Trevor Lawrence’s shoulder injury stirred up plenty of speculation this week after former Washington head coach and offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals/Jacksonville Jaguars, Jay Gruden, posted an update on the quarterback.
Trevor Lawrence’s Shoulder Injury
The news sparked immediate concern among fans, as surgery could end the quarterback’s season. However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport quickly addressed the rumor, clarifying that no surgery is currently planned for Lawrence.
Rapoport responded directly to Gruden, ensuring that no dates have been set for Lawrence’s surgery and that he has several short- and long-term options on the plate.
The NFL insider replied with a tweet, writing, “No surgery scheduled, Jay. There are several options immediately and down the road. That’s one of them. He’s considered day-to-day with a left shoulder.”

But as he considers these options, Trevor Lawrence will likely not play Sunday. Mac Jones is the backup. https://t.co/xHnfzRUA1q

Rapoport’s tweet pointed out that Lawrence is still evaluating treatment options after he injured his left shoulder last Sunday in a close game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Lawrence has had a topsy-turvy season so far, with a 61.3% completion rate, 2,004 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Sitting at a disappointing 2-7, the Jaguars will find it tough to keep their season afloat, especially if Lawrence’s absence prolongs beyond this week.
Will Lawrence Play Against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10?
Lawrence is not expected to play in Jacksonville’s Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings as he continues to manage a left shoulder injury. According to Rapoport, Lawrence will remain away from the field, and quarterback Mac Jones is expected to fill his shoes in the meantime.
Rapoport’s tweet revealed, “But as he considers these options, Trevor Lawrence will likely not play Sunday. Mac Jones is the backup.”

Jones, the former New England Patriots’ first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, was traded to Jacksonville this year. After a promising rookie season, his recent days haven’t been as bright.
The 26-year-old quarterback has yielded limited results, with 24 touchdowns to 23 interceptions and an 8-17 record as a starter for the Patriots in the last two years.
Minnesota will head into EverBank Stadium with a 6-2 record and is favored to win against the Jaguars. Jones’ impact as a starter for Jacksonville is an unanswered question at the moment.
Have a hunch we are gonna see Mac Jones this week..who? Mac Jones.

Losing seven games so far, the Jaguars’ worst problem this season has been closing out games. They have recorded one-score losses to the Eagles and Green Bay Packers.
