Ladd McConkey has been one of the NFL‘s most productive rookie wide receivers thus far in the 2024 campaign, but will the Los Angeles Chargers’ second-round pick play against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football?
Here’s the latest update on McConkey, who’s battling an injury heading into Week 12’s contest.
Will Ladd McConkey Play on Monday Night Football?
McConkey is dealing with a shoulder injury entering Week 12 and is officially considered questionable to face the Ravens on Monday night.
Despite his status, McConkey is expected to suit up against Baltimore tonight, per NFL Network.
He did not practice on Wednesday but returned for limited sessions on Thursday and Friday.
McConkey was previously limited by a hip injury during Week 8 and 9 practices, but he’s yet to miss any game action.
Fantasy Implications of McConkey’s Injury
McConkey has been impressive through 11 weeks, quickly becoming Justin Herbert’s favorite weapon in the Bolts’ passing game. The Georgia product leads all Chargers receivers in targets (63), receptions (43), and receiving yards (615) and is second in receiving touchdowns (four).
League-wide, few rookie pass catchers have been as effective as McConkey. Only Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers have posted more receiving yardage, while McConkey is second to Thomas in yards per route run.
Assuming McConkey suits up on MNF, he could have a field day against a Ravens secondary that has struggled to stop anyone all year.
Baltimore has given up the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts. John Harbaugh’s defense is a true pass funnel: The Ravens rank fifth-worst in pass defense efficiency but are second-best against the run. J.K. Dobbins and Co. probably won’t find success on the ground, leading Herbert to air it out against a troublesome Baltimore defensive backfield.
If McConkey unexpectedly sits, Quentin Johnston could have success vs. the Ravens. This season, Johnston has created chunk yardage, ranking 12th among wide receivers with a 45.5% explosive catch rate (min. 100 routes). Meanwhile, the Ravens have given up 78 explosive pass plays, more than any team in the NFL.
