Is Jayden Reed Playing Today? Latest Injury Updates, Fantasy Analysis, and More (December 24, 2023)

Will Green Bay have their rookie WR on the field this weekend? What is the latest injury update for Jayden Reed?

The youngest team in the league this season is the Green Bay Packers, where the average age of a player is just over 25 years old. They have 17 rookies on the team and a lot of talent. One of these talented rookies is Jayden Reed, the talented WR from Michigan State who is now the WR26 on the season.

Reed has become the favorite target of QB Jordan Love and has 592 yards receiving and six TDs. But Reed is battling an injury and may not be able to suit up this week against Carolina.

Will Reed make it on the field this week to contribute to his team and your fantasy football squad?

Is Jayden Reed Going To Play Week 16?

Editor’s note: Reed is set to be inactive for Week 16.

Reed is officially listed as questionable for this week’s game due to a toe injury.

Reed was outside with the Packers at practice on Friday, but he did not participate, even though head coach Matt LaFleur said Reed “was out there.” Reed has missed three practices this week.

When asked about his status, Reed responded, “Just learning how to be a pro and taking care of my body, getting extra treatment. Obviously, at this point in the season, you’ll be a lot more sore than at the beginning. I’m just trying to find a healthy balance of getting in the training room, getting my mental reps when they take care of me.”

Reed is WR49 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings this week and will be a true game-time decision.

Potential Fantasy Options If Jayden Reed Is Out Include Romeo Doubs and Tucker Kraft

If Reed is unable to take the field this week, both the Packers and fantasy managers might find themselves in a bit of a pickle. The majority of the Packers receiving core is dealing with injuries. Christian Watson continues to deal with a hamstring injury and is already listed as doubtful heading into the weekend.

“The [frustration] to go through it for a second time in a season is pretty high,” Watson said. “It’s a frustrating situation to miss one game, let alone however many I’ve missed at this point with hamstrings. But it’s uncontrollable for me at this point, so I’ve got to control what I can control.”

Next up could be Dontayvion Wicks, but the Packers have announced he is questionable with an ankle injury.

Of the four Packers WRs, the only one that seems to be at 100 percent is Romeo Doubs, and he is a solid fill-in if Reed doesn’t play. Doubs has 567 yards receiving and seven TDs this season.

The Panthers matchup this week is not a great one for WRs — they give up the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing WRs, so starting any Packer WR should be done with caution.

The matchup is a little better against opposing TEs, which puts Tucker Kraft in the conversation as a fill-in if Reed misses. Kraft was the TE6 in Week 15 against Tampa Bay on six targets.
