New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has tried his best to lead the offense downfield against the New York Jets. As the Patriots hold a 14-7 lead at halftime, Maye’s numbers are decent but not great.
With that in mind, is there something wrong with Maye?

Is Patriots QB Drake Maye Injured?
At the end of the first half, Maye was 14-of-16 passing for 140 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.
While Amazon Prime broadcasters Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit noted Maye’s pocket presence at times, the Patriots star did his best to make their words ring true.

At the half, it does not look like Maye is injured at all. The Patriots’ offense has shown signs of life, thanks to running back TreVeyon Henderson’s two touchdown runs against the Jets’ secondary.
Maye, of course, was the No. 3 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Patriots. New England has been looking to fill the Super Bowl-winning-sized shoes of Tom Brady for a long time. The franchise is hopeful that Maye is the right man for the right job, at the right time.
According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Maye has an 88.3 NFL QB Impact Score and grades out at a B+. Entering Thursday night’s game, Maye has thrown 19 touchdown passes and five interceptions. He’s amassed 2,555 passing yards, too, and has a QBR of 72.9 on the season.
Those numbers are impressive and have played a significant role in keeping the Patriots on the right side of the win-loss record. At the time of writing, Maye has targeted six different receivers against the Jets, with Stefon Diggs leading the way with five catches, followed by Mack Hollins and Hunter Henry with three receptions apiece.
As for the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Patriots offense has an 80.9 Offense Impact Score and grades out to a B-. The Patriots have found some magic with Maye as QB1, so they want to keep the good times rolling against New York.
As the game is now into the second half, look for Maye to continue to stay cool in the pocket and lead New England down the field. Of course, the second-year quarterback will also try to avoid getting injured and putting Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in a bind.
