Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to see his name on the 2025 NFL Draft boards. There have been concerns about his medical condition due to a torn oblique that he incurred during a regular season game against the Michigan Wolverines. The injury limited his performance and sidelined him for a while.
After the 2024 season, he was expected to undergo a complete rehab and conditioning before entering the draft. It seems the college veteran is back in the zone and is expected to showcase his arm strength in Indianapolis during the NFL Combine.

NFL Analyst Shares Positive Update on Quinn Ewers
The 21-year-old QB had a stellar college career in Texas, where he led the team to back-to-back CFP semifinals despite a major conference realignment shackling the program’s momentum. He led the team to Big 12 and SEC championships while giving hopes of national championships in the last two years.

During this tenure, he completed 64.3% of his passes for 9,128 yards and scored 68 touchdowns while conceding 24 interceptions. However, his draft stock saw a dip owing to injuries and declined performance towards the end of the regular season. However, he is back in action and will look to impress NFL scouts at Lucas Oil Stadium from February 27 to March 2.
“Another quarterback I can tell you will throw is Texas’ Quinn Ewers. I’m told that he is fully recovered now from a torn oblique that he played with basically this entire season,” Tom Pelissero said on Tuesday while giving an update on doubtful prospects.
“It happened in the Michigan game. It got worse over the course of time, but he is healthy now. He weighs up to about 215 lbs. Ewers actually has been working down in Texas with former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy, who I talked to on the phone yesterday.
“McCarthy says he’s just been really impressed with Quinn as a young man and the attentiveness that he has. They’ve been talking about football for hours. McCarthy says, ‘I’m like a kid in the ice cream shop just talking ball with Quinn Ewers’.
“This is a wide-open quarterback group, obviously beyond the two guys that we have talked about a lot here. This is an opportunity here for Quinn Ewers to come out and maybe establish himself as QB3 if not QB2 or one. There’s a lot of things still to shake out through the course of this process. We’re going to see a lot of those other top quarterbacks throwing here at the scouting combine. Add Quinn Ewers to that list,” Pelissero added.
In PFSN’s latest 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Ewers landed 94th overall with the Cleveland Browns.
“It’s unclear if Quinn Ewers will ever live up to the hype he once had as a recruit. His explosive arm and gunslinger mentality are that of a starter, which is why the Browns could take a swing in this spot on his potential. If he’s not worth investing in, they can always turn to the loaded 2026 QB class.”
