IDP Fantasy Football Report: Waiver Wire Pickups and Early Week 8 Fantasy Rankings

We are onto Week 8, folks. In the weekly IDP report, we'll look at waiver wire targets as well as early fantasy football rankings.

Week 8 is on the horizon, and it’s time to look ahead for our fantasy football leagues. The IDP report will provide an early look at several waiver wire priorities of varying league sizes and preliminary Week 8 IDP rankings.

Since all leagues are different sizes and have different IDP requirements, the weekly rankings might be more beneficial than the waiver list for even setting waivers. If you have any specific questions, hop into our Discord and ask me a question! Hope the waivers go in your favor.

Top Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups

Michael Hoecht, DE, Los Angeles Rams

Michael Hoecht was a revelation down the stretch last year for IDP managers. It looks like he might be trying to get back to that level again, as Hoecht tallied two sacks and a forced fumble (along with seven tackles) in Week 7. Any manager needing DL help should absolutely look his way for a solid option going forward.

Odafe Oweh, DE, Baltimore Ravens

Odafe Oweh has been teasing IDP managers since being drafted. The talent is evident but the production has been lacking. Oweh missed a lot of time this year with an ankle injury but had a great Week 1 generating pressure. In his Week 7 return, he posted three tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

Drue Tranquill, LB, Kansas City Chiefs

This one hurts, but Drue Tranquill is worth spending up on anywhere you need a LB. Nick Bolton dislocated his wrist and needs surgery, and will miss around two months.

Tranquill’s floor in the games played without Bolton was 8+ tackles. You’re likely adding a top-15 LB for the next couple months — go get him and play him.

Isaiah McDuffie, LB, Green Bay Packers

Isaiah McDuffie is a possible add for a week or two with De’Vondre Campbell still out. In his last two games, McDuffie has totaled 10 tackles in each contest. His playing time has varied from nearly full-time to closer to 60% in those games, but 10-tackle LBs don’t grow on trees. A great fill-in option wherever available.

Kyler Gordon, CB, Chicago Bears

Despite not being the biggest CB advocate in IDP leagues, the entire DB landscape is pretty barren. Gordon has a great slot role in Chicago and has put up stats before. In Week 7, Gordon totaled seven tackles in the game. This week he’ll see the Chargers, which should present plenty more tackle opportunities.

Andre Chachere, S, Arizona Cardinals

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know the name Andre Chachere before yesterday. Then Budda Baker returned from injury, K’Von Wallace went right to the bench, and Chachere played a full-time role. He’s a deep safety, so it’s not the most consistent option. But in deeper leagues, he’s well worth an add.

The Top IDP Players To Start in Week 8

Drue Tranquill, LB, Kansas City Chiefs

A spot in waiver adds and now top players for Tranquill. He’s a locked-and-loaded-top-LB option for this week and going forward. Teams usually just adjust roles for players, but the Chiefs have so many LBs that Tranquill goes from nothing to a full-time player for them. Likely the most impactful IDP add you’ll see all year, and he belongs in lineups ASAP.

Jalen Pitre, S, Houston Texans

Jalen Pitre is back from the bye — fire him up in lineups as an elite DB play in Week 8. Pitre has been up and down this year with a more consistent LB group in front of him. With the Panthers up next on the schedule, Pitre will see some opportunities in both the run and pass game. Start him with confidence as an elite safety play this week.
