In one of the most anticipated Week 8 matchups, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Washington Commanders at Arrowhead Stadium, a clash between two teams experiencing very different seasons, given their recent history.
The Chiefs’ season got off to a very worrying start with two consecutive defeats and a 0-2 record that could have serious implications in the race for the best AFC record. Still, Patrick Mahomes‘ team has returned to form, racking up five consecutive wins.
On the other hand, the Commanders are experiencing a period of internal questioning after two consecutive defeats. Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels (thigh pain) was injured against the Dallas Cowboys and will be unable to play, being replaced by Marcus Mariota, who will be the starting quarterback for the third time this season.

Where Are the Two Teams Standing Heading Into Week 8?
The Chiefs (who currently rank No. 3 in the PFSN Offense Impact metric with an 89.6 OFFi) appear to have definitively returned to their best form after a completely dominant 31-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders the previous week, demonstrating an improvement on their 30-17 victory in the highly anticipated matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Mahomes has racked up 11 touchdowns and only one interception in the last four games, showing that his partnership with Rashee Rice (who returned from suspension in Week 7) is paying off and causing even more concern for the Commanders’ defense.
In addition, the Chiefs have a considerable array of great offensive players with tight end Travis Kelce, wide receiver Xavier Worthy, and a trio of very consistent running backs consisting of Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, and Brashard Smith. In addition, their defensive performance against the Las Vegas Raiders left fans very excited, allowing their opponents only 95 yards of offense and three first downs throughout the entire game last week.
On the other hand, the Commanders (who currently rank No. 7 in the PFSN Offense Impact metric with an 82.9 OFFi) will still feel the impact on offense without Daniels, but head coach Dan Quinn will be able to count on the return of Terry McLaurin (who was out for four games) and Deebo Samuel (who missed only one game).
Despite the important returns, the Commanders will need to show that their offense is capable of overcoming the Chiefs’ defense without Dorance Armstrong, an edge rusher who suffered a serious knee injury and will be out for the rest of the season. Deatrich Wise (quadriceps) and Javontae Jean-Baptiste (pectoral) will be other notable absences for the defense.
