The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the surprise teams in the NFL this season. First-year head coach Liam Coen has the Jaguars playing well, as they lead the AFC South with a 10-4 record.
One of the many reasons for their success has been their offense led by quarterback Trevor Lawrence and which also includes a solid nucleus of explosive skill-position assets.
Bhayshul Tuten Expected To Miss Some Time With Injury
One such player who has a bright future in Jacksonville is rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten. The rookie fourth-round pick has been utilized infrequently this season, but when he’s been on the field, he’s frequently been electric.
Tuten has rushed 78 times for 284 yards and four touchdowns, adding 10 receptions for 79 yards and two more scores. Tuten suffered a finger injury in Sunday’s game against the Jets, one that will require surgery and force him to miss time.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Tuten will “miss a few weeks” but is expected to return in time for the playoffs.

The Jaguars’ offense will continue to operate as usual even without Tuten. His injury means there will likely be a larger workload for starting running back Travis Etienne. He is coming off one of his best games of the season on Sunday, scoring three touchdowns (all receiving) and recording 105 total yards of offense.
Etienne should be a focal point of the offense for the remainder of the season as the Jaguars hope to clinch the AFC South for the first time since 2022. Etienne has been the more effective back anyhow; he has an RB Impact Score of 76.3 according to PFSN, while Tuten is at 71.1.
Jaguars Hoping To Keep the Good Times Rolling
The Jaguars have won five games in a row and now control their own destiny to win the division and reach the postseason.
However, they have one of their toughest tests of the season in Week 16, when they travel to Denver to face the Broncos. Denver is 11-2 and undefeated at home this season.

This game will tell us a lot about the Jaguars and whether they are a serious contender in the AFC. In Week 17 they travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. The final stretch of the regular season will therefore reveal a lot about what caliber of team the Jaguars are and how far they may be able to go in the postseason.
Winning double-digit games was not something many people saw coming this season for Jacksonville. However, when you find the right coach, things can turn around very quickly.
