Hollywood Brown Sends Bold Message to Rest of NFL After Re-Signing With Chiefs on $11 Million Deal

Hollywood Brown never seriously considered moving on from the Kansas City Chiefs after his one-year stint in 2024. In his mind, there was simply too much unfinished business.

Hollywood Brown Wants To Make History … Again

“The sky’s the limit,” Brown said to ESPN. “We talk all the time about history — our history as a group, our history as individual players — and that’s stuff we speak on and strive for through the offseason and our training. We’re trying to push each other to be the best. Ultimately, I do feel like we could do something that’s never been done before.”

Brown, along with rookie Xavier Worthy, was brought in last season to help bring an element back to the Chiefs’ passing game. The duo was expected to join breakout receiver Rashee Rice and form what Kansas City hoped would be its deepest receiving corps in years.

But the trio never shared the field. Brown suffered a sternoclavicular injury on the first play of the preseason, and by the time he returned late in the regular season, Rice had been lost for the year with a knee injury.

“Every time Hollywood catches the ball, it’s just a burst of energy,” tight end Travis Kelce said via ESPN. “We missed that guy a lot [during his injury]. I was watching him in practice when he first got back. I was like, ‘That’s it. That’s the guy.’ We missed that guy. He’s one of those guys that you could feel his presence when you’re out there on the field with him.”

Brown, 27, hasn’t played a full season since 2021, when he posted career highs with 91 receptions and 1,008 yards for the Baltimore Ravens. With so many weapons in Kansas City’s offense — including Kelce, Rice, and Worthy — Brown may not reach those numbers again. But he said his decision to return wasn’t about stats.

“I think just the environment,” Brown said. “The atmosphere every day coming to work just felt like, for the first time in my career, I was getting where I wanted to be every day — coming to work, getting better and getting better. So I knew that was a place and environment I wanted to stay in.”

With a healthy group entering 2024, the trio of Brown, Rice, and Worthy has its sights set on something special — something historic. Could they make it back to the Super Bowl, again?

The sky is truly the limit. With the talent the Chiefs have, they certainly could. Worthy had a dynamic rookie debut, could he replicate that? If he can alongside Brown and Rice, we might just have another year of Kansas City dominating the AFC.
