The New York Giants hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and were initially expected to be in the quarterback market. However, after signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, there are rumblings that the Giants won’t take a quarterback in the first round.
New York might be able to land a generational talent like Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter or Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter with the No. 3 pick, but one recent mock draft has the team trading down to pair Malik Nabers with another star receiver.

Giants Trade Down For a WR In Latest Mock Draft
Nabers was the lone offensive bright spot for the Giants in 2024. New York finished No. 31 in PFSN’s Offense+ metric last season and was 29th in success rate in both the passing and rushing game.
Nabers, on the other hand, made the Pro Bowl after posting 109 receptions, 1,204 yards, and seven touchdowns. Those numbers likely would have been even better if he had a competent quarterback. Daniel Jones started 10 games before being released, and Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito finished up New York’s 3-14 season.
Now, the Giants hold the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft behind the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, who both need quarterbacks, so GM Joe Schoen added to his QB room in free agency. Winston signed a two-year, $8 million contract, while Wilson inked a one-year, $10.5 million deal. Neither are long-term options, but there are rumors that the Giants aren’t interested in investing their top-three pick in a rookie quarterback.
CBS Sports’ NFL analyst Tom Fornelli recently released his latest mock draft in which he predicts that the Giants will trade down to the No. 8 pick and select Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan.
“Pairing McMillan with Malik Nabers will give the Giants one of the most dynamic pair of receivers in the league,” Fornelli wrote. “That will come in handy for a team that seems far more interested in pushing for a playoff spot in 2025 than finding a long-term answer at QB based on their offseason maneuvers.”
McMillan would be a welcome addition to Brain Daboll’s offense. The Arizona product is arguably the best receiver available in the 2025 NFL Draft. He measured 6’4 1/8″ and 219 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine and had two highly productive seasons in college.
He put up 84 receptions, 1,319 yards, and eight touchdowns in his final season at Arizona. This came on the heels of 90 catches, 1,402 yards, and 10 touchdowns as a true sophomore the year before.
PFSN’s latest mock draft has the Giants sticking at No. 3 and taking Carter. Here’s what PFSN’s Brentley Weissman wrote about New York’s selection: “The New York Giants seem set at quarterback for now after adding Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, so I think they’ll go with the best player available — and that’s Abdul Carter.
“Carter is the top pass rusher in this class and a real game-wrecker off the edge. He combines rare explosiveness and power, making him nearly unblockable in one-on-one situations. Even with Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux already in place, I don’t see the Giants passing on a talent like Carter.”
Meanwhile, Weissman has McMillan going to the Seattle Seahawks at No. 18: “I made this pick in my last mock and I’m sticking with it. Tetairoa McMillan’s stock may be slipping in the draft community, but I’m still a believer.
“He’s a long, rangy target who thrives in the red zone. With DK Metcalf gone, the Seattle Seahawks need an outside receiver to pair with Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the slot. McMillan fits the bill.”
