Giants vs. Eagles Prediction, Pick: Can Saquon Barkley and Miles Sanders shine?

All four of the Eagles’ final games this season are against division rival opponents. That could be a grueling run of tough contests, but if they win three of them, then the playoffs are not impossible. Let’s take a look at the New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles Week 16 matchup, the NFL odds, and make a pick and prediction.

Giants are in the midst of a forgettable season

It’s been a season to forget for Giants fans. And to make matters worse, Daniel Jones was ruled out this week for the remainder of the regular season as he deals with a complex neck injury.

The 10-point spread tells you everything you need to know about what the oddsmakers think of the Giants’ chances against the Eagles this week. Mike Glennon will likely start the game, and there’s a couple of weeks’ worth of tryouts for hopeful QB Jake Fromm to make an impact.

Ultimately, the Giants need to survive the year and regroup in the offseason with a strong amount of draft capital. Currently, New York holds two top-10 picks. There is light at the end of the tunnel for this roster to improve, but right now, it’s a struggle to the season’s end.

It’s been an underwhelming campaign, especially considering the weapons and money invested into the offense. The lack of performance has caused question marks to fly around the Giants. It’s certainly going to be an interesting summer in the Big Apple.

Eagles are playing for it all

While the Giants are playing for pride, the Eagles are fighting for a playoff spot. Wins against Washington and the Giants will give them even more hope, and they can continue to build from there. Jalen Hurts returns to the lineup, and as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league, he could have a field day against the G-Men.

The Giants have one of the worst run defenses in the league statistically, while they’re closer to mid-tier against the pass. Hurts has shown some promise this year and has turned out to be a very dangerous threat with his legs, taking more carries than running back Miles Sanders.

Giants vs. Eagles betting trends

At the time of writing, the Eagles have won three of their last four games against the spread and outright. They’re a team that’s working hard and beginning to figure it out under head coach Nick Sirianni. The Eagles are 7-6 both against the spread and over/unders in 2021.

The Giants have lost three in a row against the spread, despite the margin getting larger each game. Their last outing was an 11.5-point spread against the Cowboys, and they were still unable to cover. New York is not scoring points at a high rate, which is why they’ve only covered one over in their last eight games. They’re 4-9-1 for overs this season.

Giants vs. Eagles prediction

The spread is getting higher, but I don’t see how the Giants maintain against an Eagles team capable of moving the ball. Philly’s pass game might not be perfect, but they’re efficient on the ground and can score 21 points in this game without too much trouble.

The Giants are unlikely to match that. I would take the Eagles against the spread in a game where they can run away from New York fairly easily. So, take the Eagles to win and the under to cover.
