Russell Wilson joined the New York Giants on a one-year, $10.5 million, fully guaranteed contract this offseason, marking his fourth team in the past five seasons. The 10-time Pro Bowler spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games played.
He completed 63.7% of his passes along with 155 rushing yards on 43 carries and two touchdowns.
Wilson is part of a revamped position group as the Steelers also signed Jameis Winston and drafted Ole Miss standout Jaxson Dart to go along with incumbent quarterback Tommy DeVito.
Wilson, who is expected to begin the season as the Steelers’ starter, recently received praise from Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. Praises New Giants Quarterback Russell Wilson
Wilson brings a championship pedigree to the Giants’ quarterback room, having won Super Bowl XLVIII in his second NFL season. Tracy Jr. recently appeared on the FS1 show “The Facility,” where he discussed what he has learned from Wilson.
“Yeah, man, Russ been amazing,” Tracy Jr. said. “Russ has been amazing. Like, I really can’t say enough praise about him because he’s a true professional. And when he comes in the room, it’s like the energy he brings when he steps in that room.
“Like, he comes in and he greets everyone,” Tracy Jr. said. “From the head coach to the last guy on the roster. ‘How you doing? What’s up?’ Shake up, dap. Like, and that’s something that you see. As a young guy, that’s something you see when you got a vet that’s been in the game and he’s been doing his thing for a long time.”
Last season, Tracy Jr., as a rookie running back, ran for 839 yards and five touchdowns on 192 carries while adding 284 receiving yards and one touchdown on 38 carries. His praise for Wilson kept on rolling in his appearance on the FS1 show.
“He’s out there first,” Tracy Jr. said. “He’s the one staying last. He’s doing all the recovery stuff. Everyone knows how Russ operates. If you’ve been around him, you see how he operates. And, like, you, as a young guy, you want to get there and he’s showing you how you get there.
“So, it’s step by step, little by little,” Tracy Jr. told the show’s hosts. “But, little by little, everything comes together and it’s going to be a lot. So, I just want, obviously, to give my praise out to my boy Russ. He’s been doing a great job. I’ve been learning a lot from him.”
While the Giants struggled last year due to a subpar quarterback room led by Daniel Jones and Drew Lock, Tracy Jr. was a bright spot. His production should improve. The Giants hope opposing defenses will spend more time focused on the New York passing game with Wilson under center.
