The New York Giants’ late-game collapse against the Chicago Bears on Sunday has raised questions about the team’s quarterback situation going forward.
Rookie Jaxson Dart, who has shown promise since taking over the starting role in Week 4, exited in the fourth quarter with a concussion, and Russell Wilson was unable to preserve the lead. The Giants lost 24-20, dropping to 2-8.

Connor Hughes on Russell Wilson’s Performance
Russell Wilson’s performance against the Chicago Bears did little to strengthen his case and drew criticism from NFL reporter Connor Hughes, who wrote on X: “This is a painful watch. I’m not sure how you don’t start Jameis if Dart can’t go.”
The comment came after Wilson had a hard time moving the offense down the field, completing only 3 of 7 passes for 45 yards and taking two sacks during his limited field time.
The Giants held a 17-10 lead when Dart left the game after taking a brutal hit on a designed run. Wilson’s first drive briefly reignited hope; a 41-yard completion helped set up a field goal that extended the advantage to 20-10.
But from there, New York’s offense failed to produce another first down. Chicago capitalized, scoring twice in the final minutes behind quarterback Caleb Williams, who threw one touchdown and ran for another to complete the comeback. Wilson’s final drive ended with an incomplete pass on fourth down.

“They made a couple of plays, and that was just unfortunate for us,” Wilson said, via ESPN. “But I felt mentally ready and all of us being ready to respond. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to win the game.”
The Giants’ quarterback situation has been unsettled since early in the season. Wilson opened the year as a starter but was benched after a 0-3 start. Meanwhile, before leaving Sunday’s game, Dart completed 19 of 29 passes for 242 yards and rushed for 66 more, scoring two touchdowns on the ground.
Through nine contests, he has accumulated 1,417 yards on a 62.7% completion rate and 10 touchdowns. He’s also added 317 yards on the ground with seven scores. His PFSN QB Impact Score is 77.7 with a C+ rating. He ranks 16th among all quarterbacks this season.
Coach Brian Daboll confirmed that Dart entered concussion protocol and said the team will be cautious with his recovery.
“We have confidence in Russ. But you never want to see any of your guys going down,” Daboll said.
Dart has already been evaluated multiple times for concussions this season. Additionally, Wilson’s failures could prompt discussions about the Giants turning to another veteran option, possibly Jameis Winston, for next week’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
