New York Giants legend Michael Strahan found himself in hot water with the team’s fanbase back in February. During a pregame segment for Fox’s broadcast of Super Bowl 59, Strahan waved a Philadelphia Eagles flag and said, “Fly, Eagles, Fly.” The moment didn’t go over well with Giants fans, who heavily criticized the Hall of Famer.
Recently, Strahan posted a photo of himself at a New York Knicks game — possibly in an attempt to make amends with disappointed fans.

Michael Strahan Posts Picture Supporting Knicks at Madison Square Garden
On Wednesday, April 9, Strahan shared a photo of himself sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden before the New York Knicks’ game against the Boston Celtics. The post came with a caption backing the home team.
“Getting ready for playoff basketball in the Garden. Let’s go @nyknicks.”
The post was met with a much warmer reception than his Super Bowl moment with former Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
Strahan Angers Giants Fans by Waving Eagles Flag During Super Bowl 59 Interview
Before Super Bowl 59, Strahan recorded an interview with Barkley, who had just wrapped up a career year after leaving the Giants in 2024. The sit-down took place on a riverboat in New Orleans, the host city for the big game.
Barkley reflected on his decision to join the Eagles, admitting that the team’s rivalry with the Giants was the only downside. But the move paid off in a big way. After rushing for 2,504 yards (including the playoffs), scoring 20 total touchdowns, and winning a Super Bowl, Barkley’s Giants days felt like a distant memory.
As the interview wrapped up, a Philadelphia Eagles flag was brought out. Strahan initially cringed at the idea of honoring his former rivals.
“Oh,” he said, “You’re not gonna make me do it. [You’re not] gonna make me do it. I might burn.”
But he did it anyway — honoring Barkley before waving the flag and saying the words Giants fans never thought they’d hear from him: “Fly, Eagles, Fly.”
“For all you Giants fans out there, I have been around a lot of guys that have left the Giants and gone to other places that I did not like, and I never liked them. But he is such a special man. Come on, we gonna ‘Fly, Eagles, Fly’ for Saquon Barkley.”
The moment landed as poorly as expected. Many fans ripped into Strahan for what they saw as disrespect, while others took it as a sign of how far the Giants have fallen as a franchise.
Strahan’s latest show of support for New York sports is sure to win back some fans. But for others, the image of him smiling while waving that Eagles flag may stick in their minds for a long time.
