The New York Giants are looking to find their quarterback of the future, and all signs point to them selecting a rookie in the 2025 NFL Draft. Initially, Shedeur Sanders was seen as their top target, as finding a long-term franchise quarterback is their most pressing need.
However, to secure Sanders, the Giants would likely need to trade up from their No. 3 overall pick, as the Cleveland Browns are also eyeing him at the No. 2 overall pick. With no current indications that the Giants are considering a trade-up, it seems likely they will address other needs, such as interior offensive line, with their first-round pick.

New York Giants Predicted to Pick QB on Day 2
PSFN’s 2025 NFL mock draft predicts the Giants will select the generational two-way phenom Travis Hunter with the No. 3 overall pick in the first round. Hunter’s addition would strengthen both their receiving corps and their cornerback position, providing depth, talent, and versatility.
That said, the franchise cannot afford to overlook their critical need for a quarterback. With a CB/WR likely being their first-round pick, they will most likely focus on securing a quarterback in the second round.
The latest mock draft shows the Giants selecting Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart with the No. 34 overall pick.
“The aptly named Jaxson Dart has a strong arm and ideal ball placement across the middle of the field. He’s also shown some dual-threat capabilities as a runner. He doesn’t seem like a quarterback ready to start right away, but he’s shown tools over his time at Ole Miss that could project him as a future starter at the NFL level.”
He has accumulated impressive stats throughout his 45-game collegiate career — 11,907 passing yards and 81 passing touchdowns, along with 1541 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.
Dart has shown consistent production throughout his college career and demonstrated strong arm strength on deep throws, something the Giants could greatly benefit from. He also possesses solid speed, isn’t afraid to take hits, and is effective on designed runs and scrambles—attributes that would pose a significant threat to opponents.
Interestingly, Dart also has the leadership skills required to eventually become a starter. However, his consistency, particularly under pressure, is an area he will need to improve.
Until their rookie quarterback is ready to take on the QB1 role, the Giants will likely look to free agency to address their quarterback situation.
