The New York Jets have had two roller-coaster seasons under Aaron Rodgers, and they are dealing with another twist — addressing rumors about their quarterback’s uncertain future. Rodgers, who will turn 41 next week, has battled injuries and team struggles, all while the Jets have slipped to a disappointing 3-8 record.
Major changes have occurred in the front office. Head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas were both recently fired, and Rodgers’ comments about wanting or not wanting to play for the Jets have only added confusion. His teammate, Garrett Wilson, is trying to get a handle on the situation.
Garrett Wilson Sheds Light on Aaron Rodgers’ Future Plans
Rodgers dropped a doubt bomb about continuing to play football after his 20-year run in the league. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said, “I don’t even know if I want to play yet, but New York would be my first option.”
This backdrop of uncertainty forced Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson to share his perspective on the Up and Adams Show. Reacting to Rodgers’ comments, Wilson admitted, “The way I approached this season coming into it was that this was our ONE CHANCE to go and get it… anything on top of that is like a cherry on top.”
Wilson added, “Obviously, it hasn’t gone how we expected or wanted it to go. But, with that said, he’s still been a blessing and it’s still been something that I’ll value for the rest of my life.”

His words show that the Jets had a strong mindset heading into the year, where Rodgers was seen as the missing piece to push them into serious contention. However, things didn’t go to plan, and the Jets haven’t been able to turn their fate around lately, though Wilson is grateful for having a seasoned quarterback like Rodgers on his team.
Many Jets fans hope to get fresh air, whether with or without Rodgers. Therefore, Wilson’s words come after the star quarterback denied reports that he’s eyeing a future with another team, calling them “100% false” during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
"I haven't told anybody in my life that I wanna play in 2025 and not on the Jets..
That's 100% false and I actually said the opposite..

He added, “I came here to win here, so I’m not jumping off the ship. Regarding my future, I haven’t told anybody in my life that I want to play in 2025 and not on the Jets.” Yet, he acknowledged that much remains uncertain, as he claimed, “There are a lot of things out of my control… if they want me back, what happens with the offensive staff, and obviously the GM. They just fired Joe.”
According to reports from The Athletic, Rodgers has already decided to play next year with the Jets.
