Former NFL star Chad Johnson raved about Colorado head coach Deion Sanders' greatness on the gridiron as a player and now as a coach.

In just two years, Deion Sanders has revolutionized the Colorado football program. The Buffaloes are currently 8-2 and have almost unlocked their College Football Playoff berth and the Big 12 Championship Game. Reflecting on this surreal impact of Prime Time, former Bengals star Chad Johnson lashed at the critics and explained why his NFL friend deserves credit.

    Chad Johnson Discusses Deion Sanders

On Saturday’s episode of Night Cap with Shannon Sharpe, Johnson shared his thoughts on the Buffaloes’ ultimate transformation. The program that was 1-11 back in 2022 has undergone a massive transformation, with Coach Prime being the primary reason.

“He does it, everything he’s done. You think about Prime from whether it’s the football field, whether it’s playing baseball, whether it’s playing football, whether it’s coaching, everything he does and touches it turns to gold and has success coming right behind it,” Johnson said.

“Sometimes it might take a little bit, it might take a little time, but in Colorado’s instance, he did turn a collegiate program around in two years. Well, you know how; I don’t think people understand how difficult that is to do,” he added.

No doubt, Colorado AD Rick George made the ultimate steal from Jackson State by convincing the NFL legend to come to Boulder. His transition from HBCU raised many eyebrows, but Sanders made sure he lived up to the expectations. And as Johnson said, whatever he touches, it turns to gold.

Starting from his illustrious NFL career with two Super Bowls, a 1992 World Series appearance, and above all, the coaching prowess he showcased.

Deion Sanders Claims Colorado Is Not Done Yet

After the Week 12 success over the Utah Utes, the Buffs have almost secured their Big 12 championship ticket. They stand as favorites to win the automatic bid for the College Football Playoff as a top-four team.

In the postgame press conference, Coach Prime spilled the beans on his motives going forward and claimed they have just started dominating the conference. “We haven’t even put it all together yet,” Sanders said, per USA Today.

“Like we haven’t even played our best game. That should be in itself scary. Like man, when I said, ‘We comin,’ we still coming. We never stopped coming. We are coming, and we ain’t nearly there yet,” he added.

The Buffs are two more games away from wrapping up the 2024 season. Next, they will face the Kansas Jayhawks in the Week 13 showdown on Nov. 23. As usual, the expectations are sky-high.
