The New York Giants have become one of the most puzzling teams heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
There’s buzz around almost every franchise this time of year, but when you start hearing insiders — and even former quarterbacks — say that no one can figure out what the Giants will do, it’s enough to raise eyebrows.

What Should the Giants Do With Their 2025 Pick?
According to Chase Daniel, one of the co-hosts of the “Scoop City” podcast alongside Dianna Russini, the Giants are officially “the wild card” of this year’s draft.
Daniel laid out in an X post after a recent podcast episode what he believes New York should do: “Take Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter. Trade back if they are not there!”
The former NFL QB isn’t the only one feeling uncertain about Big Blue’s next move. Russini said on the podcast, “I get asked by more people about the New York Giants than anything else right now because they’re a bit of a wild card of what are they going to do.”
The discussion also dove into the team’s quarterback situation, with Daniel pointing out that the Giants’ moves suggest they don’t view this year’s QB class very highly: “They’re telling the world that they think that Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are better than QB [No.] 2, 3, or 4 right now.”
The NY Giants are the wildcard in this years draft….no one knows what they are going to do.

It’s a risky setup — banking on two veterans to carry the load while simultaneously sitting out of a quarterback-rich draft could backfire. Russini echoed that concern: “You don’t want to take a quarterback and redshirt him and have him sit. That doesn’t make sense. Brian Daboll has no investment in that.”
Daniel added, “If they are going to draft a quarterback, he has to start right away. And he has to show hope. Maybe it’s seven to eight wins with a rookie. Then that saves Brian Daboll’s job.”
And yet, even with all this back-and-forth, there’s still more uncertainty than clarity. Russini admitted that both she and Daniel have gone back and forth constantly on what New York should do. Their current roster — headlined by Winston and Wilson — isn’t exactly built for a deep postseason run, and that only adds more pressure on GM Joe Schoen and Daboll.
Interestingly, Russini hinted at past interest in Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders: “I do think there was a time when the Giants were in on Shedeur Sanders, and I think they really had a positive analysis of him.”
Dane Brugler, who had also joined the Scoop City episode, confirmed that: “They did more work on him than anybody, right?”
Russini joked that “Joe Schoen lived in Colorado at one point,” referencing how frequently he was spotted watching Sanders play in person. But all signs now point to a shift in approach.
Brugler noted that despite New York’s attempts to trade up last year to land Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, nothing materialized — and now they’re in an even worse spot. “They were even worse than they were last year, but not bad enough to get that No. 1 overall pick,” he said.
So what’s next for the Giants? It all comes down to how well Schoen manages expectations. As Brugler put it, “Let’s add Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, and then we’ll go with the best player available, which might be Abdul Carter.”
Even with Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux already anchoring the pass rush, Carter could be a difference-maker. But one thing is clear — nobody knows what New York will do, and that makes them the most unpredictable team on the board.
