The 2025 NFL Draft is fast approaching, and teams are running out of time to finalize their plans for the big event in Green Bay. The future of Colorado quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders continues to be a point of contention among analysts, with widely contrasting opinions about his draft value.
Recently, former New York Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum suggested that teams should consider trading into the top 10 to draft the quarterback.

Former New York Jets GM Urges Teams to Be Aggressive for Shedeur Sanders
In a recent episode of “Get Up” on ESPN, Tannenbaum was bullish in his praise of Sanders’ NFL-ready ability and encouraged teams to trade into the top 10 picks to get him. Tannenbaum likened Sanders to Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and predicted the prospect to have a solid NFL career.
“Teams should trade into the top 10 for Shedeur Sanders. I think Shedeur Sanders is gonna be a good NFL quarterback; I keep comping him to Kirk Cousins, who’s had a really good career.” Tannenbaum stated that to be successful in the NFL Draft, you have to take chances.
“Part of managing the Draft process, guys, is be opportunistic. This guy is tough; he’s been sacked 94 times over two years. He’s only missed one game, led the nation in accuracy. I know a lot of the balls were short. But when you’re tough, smart, and accurate, you can win a lot of games with a player like that.”

Sanders’ ability to remain composed and accurate in the face of relentless pressure and physical punishment is his calling card. Many believe that those characteristics make him the best quarterback prospect in the class. Others, like Domonique Foxworth, though, aren’t as enamored.
Quick to disagree with Tannenbaum was Foxworth. The former NFL defensive back stated his belief that Sanders isn’t worth passing on a top prospect.
“I think a team like the Raiders, in that situation, should be looking to get a running back like [Ashton] Jeanty. Or the [Chicago] Bears, get a running back like Jeanty. I think anybody in that situation, if they have an opportunity to get a running back that seems almost un-tackle-able, that’s the guy you go with.”
Sanders continues to be the most volatile projection between analysts, and that doesn’t look like changing any time soon.
