With speculation swirling around a potential marriage between Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the big question is when the announcement will come. However, his favorite place to air out his various thoughts is on The Pat McAfee Show. So there’s speculation that when he decides what he will be doing in 2025, he will be doing it there.
Though Rodgers is still a free agent, NFL teams and their front offices prefer to control the narrative whether it’s signing or releasing a player. However, when it comes to Rodgers things tend to play out a little differently.

When and Where Would Rodgers Get the Most Attention?
Former NFL GM Doug Whaley explained the reality of the Aaron Rodgers experience on the Power of Bowser show on 93.7 The Fan.
When asked if the Steelers would be upset if Rodgers were to announce on McAfee’s show, Whaley said, “This is what you’re going to be dealing with when you put your arms around Aaron Rodgers and expect him to be your quarterback.” Whaley went on to add, “He’s going to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it because it’s about Aaron Rodgers.”

Whaley elaborates that Rodgers is not going to announce who is signing with at a basic press conference, but instead with his own flair. “I think he’s gonna do it in a way where everybody’s gonna be like, ‘oh wow, Aaron,” said Whaley. But he doesn’t think Rodgers will do it on McAfee’s show but at far more prominent time. “I think he’ll do it at a different, later time, when it’s all about him. Me personally, I could see him doing it the night before the draft,” Whaley concludes.
If that scenario were to play out, Whaley suggests that the Steelers should still consider drafting a quarterback. “If you like a quarterback at 21 and he is the highest guy on your board … absolutely,” he said. “You bring a young guy in. You let him sit. Let him learn.”
Regardless, the Steelers are in dire need of help in their quarterback room. They only have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson under contract and have been looking for a long-term answer at the position since Ben Roethlisberger retired after the 2022 season.
Should Rodgers sign with the Steelers, he could be the bridge to a developmental pick like Jaxson Dart or Shedeur Sanders if he were to fall out of the top end of the draft. All that remains now is finding out whether Rodgers and the Steelers are going to step up to the altar and say, “I do.”
