Former Washington and Philadelphia Eagles executive and current ESPN analyst Louis Riddick praised Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward’s arm talent during the prospect’s Pro Day. Riddick has previously said Ward deserves to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Louis Riddick Praises Cam Ward During Miami Pro Day
On Monday, March 24, timelines filled up with videos of Ward and other Miami prospects working out during their Pro Day. Most of the attention was on Ward, a potential No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft, as he showed off his arm strength. He even got to show his hands during a trick play run for scouts.
Riddick, who played defensive back for the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, and Oakland Raiders during his NFL career, was impressed. And after seeing Ward’s workout, he posted a strong take on social media.
“Cam Ward throwing absolute [darts] in this workout. Dude has so much horsepower in that right arm.”

Riddick has praised Ward before. During a guest spot on the “GoJo and Golic” podcast, he predicted that Ward would be the first overall pick in April and said he deserved it.
“I’ve said all along that I think Cam should be the number-one prospect, and I think he’s more than deserving of being that. And I think he will be taken first overall, ultimately.” Riddick also pointed to Ward’s background and character.
“The guy is self-made. He’s a guy who built himself up from a zero-star recruit. He’s a guy who’s gone the long, hard way. So nothing’s been given, everything’s been earned, and everything that he has earned, like, you can believe what you see.”
Ward Predicted To Be First Player Taken in Latest PFSN Mock
It’s not just Riddick backing Ward as the No. 1 pick. The latest seven-round mock draft from PFSN has the Tennessee Titans selecting the young quarterback as well. Analyst Ben Rolfe says Tennessee’s quiet free agency approach points toward them drafting a rookie.
“The Tennessee Titans have done very little to address their quarterback situation in free agency, suggesting that their eggs are firmly in the basket of adding a rookie this offseason. Most reports have their target being Cam Ward rather than Shedeur Sanders.”
Ward is seen as a high-upside player with top-level arm talent, smooth velocity, and strong athleticism. His confidence and playmaking set him apart, though he still needs some development before he’s a finished product. With Will Levis and Brandon Allen on the roster, Ward’s growth would likely continue on the field in 2025.
Ward still has some polish to add at the next level. But having climbed from a zero-star recruit to a potential top pick, he’s proven how coachable he is. His work ethic and resilience should help him adjust to the NFL, whether it’s with the Titans or another team.
