University of Florida cornerback and 2022 NFL Draft prospect Kaiir Elam is visiting the Houston Texans on Tuesday for a top-30 visit.

University of Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam is visiting the Houston Texans on Tuesday. The Texans are also hosting Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner for a visit. Elam is a long, athletic corner at 6-foot-1 1/2, 199 pounds with 4.39 speed in the 40-yard dash, and he could be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

NFL teams like his size, athleticism, proven cover skills against elite competition in the Southeastern Conference, character and knowledge of the game, checking a ton of boxes. He’s regarded as an extremely NFL-ready, polished prospect.

Elam is the son of former NFL safety Abram Elam, who played for the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Kansas City Chiefs.

Abram Elam recorded 408 career tackles, 5 sacks, and 3 interceptions. Elam’s uncle, Matt Elam, is a former Florida standout safety and Baltimore Ravens first-round draft pick.

Kaiir Elam started five games as a true freshman for the Gators and intercepted 3 passes. He was named to the All-Southeastern Conference freshman team. He was subsequently added to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list.

In his Florida career, Elam played in 30 games and had 78 tackles, 20 passes defensed, and 5 interceptions. He had 29 tackles (1.5 for loss), 5 passes defensed, and 1 interception last season.

A native of Riviera Beach, Fla., Elam was a blue-chip recruit at The Benjamin School.

He had 9 interceptions as a senior and was named the Palm Beach Defensive Player of the Year in Class 5A. He was ranked fourth overall by some recruiting services and chose the Gators over Colorado, Georgia, and Miami.
