Who Are the Best Wide Receivers To Draft in Fantasy?
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
This year is a year like no other. We have not one, not two, but three wide receivers mostly drafted inside the top 12 that have no track record of elite production. We’ll focus on two of them today.
The first is Garrett Wilson, who averaged 12.7 fantasy points per game as a rookie and 12.5 as a sophomore. Wilson hasn’t come close to finishing as a WR1, yet he’s being drafted as one for the second consecutive season.
As a rookie, Wilson actually was a WR1. Not over the whole season, of course, but if you isolate the games he didn’t play with Zach Wilson, Garrett averaged over 17 fantasy points per game.

Last year, everything about Wilson’s usage screamed WR1. He commanded an elite 30.1% target share, but the problem was once again his QB play.
Wilson’s efficiency metrics were awful, but not because of him. He averaged just 1.56 yards per route run because fewer than 70% of his targets were catchable. He had 42.7% of the Jets’ air yards.
With a healthy Aaron Rodgers, Wilson’s efficiency should skyrocket. Although he’s never done it before, fantasy managers can draft Wilson confidently and expect a WR1 season.
Drake London, Atlanta Falcons
The second WR in the top 12 who has never come close to performing at that level is Drake London (the third is Marvin Harrison Jr. for those wondering).
As bad as Wilson was last season, London was worse, finishing outside the top 40 fantasy receivers. Yet, the fantasy community as a whole clearly believes in London’s talent.
Kirk Cousins is a massive QB upgrade, but if we didn’t think London was talented, he wouldn’t have jumped from a guy with a mid-WR3 ADP to a low-WR1.
No one will argue the fact that London was held back by poor coaching and quarterback play. Desmond Ridder, as we’ve seen, is not an NFL-caliber starting QB. Yet, London was able to pull off a 10-catch, 172-yard game with him at quarterback. Bad wide receivers don’t do that.
Will the combination of Cousins and a new coaching staff propel London from borderline unstartable to every-week WR1? That remains to be seen, but given Cousins’ track record and my belief in London’s talent, I’m buying in.
