The Carolina Panthers prepare for their Week 10 matchup with an unexpected injury concern surrounding their top receiver. Tetairoa McMillan appeared healthy all week before a late development on Friday. Will fantasy football managers have the stud rookie wide receiver available Sunday?

Tetairoa McMilllan Injury Update
McMillan logged full practice participation on both Wednesday and Thursday. He was not listed on the injury report through the first two days of the week, suggesting he entered the week completely healthy without any concerns about his availability.
Friday brought an unwelcome surprise. McMillan was downgraded to limited participation with a hamstring issue. The Panthers subsequently listed him as questionable for Sunday’s game.
This is not good. McMillan clearly picked up the injury at Friday’s practice. When a player practices fully Wednesday and Thursday before suddenly appearing limited Friday with a new injury designation, it almost always means something happened during that Friday session.
Hamstrings are incredibly tricky injuries that can linger if not allowed to properly heal. Even minor hamstring strains can sideline players for multiple weeks, and rushing back too quickly often leads to re-injury that extends the absence even longer.
It’s possible this was merely tightness and his removal from practice was precautionary. Teams often exercise extreme caution with hamstring issues, pulling players at the first sign of discomfort to prevent a minor problem from becoming a major one. If the medical staff detected tightness during warmups or early in practice, they may have shut him down immediately as a protective measure.
Head coach Dave Canales spoke to reporters and offered some insight. He confirmed the issue occurred at practice and described pulling McMillan as precautionary. However, he did not totally dismiss the injury and admitted there is some concern, but the coach “hopes he can go.”

However, with just two days until the game, it’s difficult to feel good about McMillan’s prospects for Sunday. Hamstring injuries typically need rest to heal properly, and two days provides minimal recovery time. The questionable designation reflects genuine uncertainty about his ability to play through whatever discomfort he’s experiencing.
The timing creates significant concern. If this were a Wednesday or Thursday injury, McMillan would have several days to rest and receive treatment before game day. A Friday injury leaves almost no margin for error in terms of recovery time.
Fortunately, the Panthers play at 1:00 ET on Sunday, so fantasy managers won’t have to guess at McMillan’s status. His status will be known 90 minutes before kickoff, giving fantasy managers time to adjust their lineups if necessary. Unlike players in late afternoon or evening games, there’s no risk of being caught off-guard by a last-minute inactive designation.
Fantasy managers should have backup plans ready and monitor pregame reports closely. If McMillan is active, there’s still the question of whether he’ll be limited in his role or playing through discomfort that could hamper his effectiveness.
McMillan Fantasy Outlook
It seems like, every year, there are a few players that flash on the field, but less so in the boxscore.
McMillan certainly qualifies.
The rookie is a pro-level target earner, but he’s playing in an underwhelming offense, and that’s why, despite the volume of looks, he’s been held under 50 receiving yards in three of his past four and has scored in only one game this year.

He could have scored last week in Lambeau, but Bryce Young delivered a high target with some weird spin on it, and he couldn’t convert. This is the first of two New Orleans matchups coming up, spots where the extra attention from the defense may not be too preventive.
I’m starting McMillan with confidence in this matchup: I’ll go back to doing the “not all targets are created equal” thing next week against the Falcons, but in this spot, his 8-10 target projection comes with top-24 fantasy production attached to it.
