Intriguing Players in the Week 9 Rest of Season Rankings

If you are looking for a different way to take advantage of these Week 9 fantasy football rest-of-season rankings, then why not check out the best ball options at Underdog Fantasy? With a $100 deposit bonus for new users, now is a great time to try out the range of games available at Underdog Fantasy.

Justin Fields, QB, Chicago Bears

Do you remember when we had our drafts a few months ago and decided to choose that late-round QB target that would pan out? Guys like Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Russell, Wilson, and even Derek Carr are on the list. At this point, sitting above them all in our 2022 rest-of-season rankings is Justin Fields.

After an abysmal start of the year in which Fields was handicapped by his offensive playcalling, Fields watched his numbers increase for five straight weeks and has now put together three straight QB1 performances and has not finished lower than the QB13 since Week 5.

MORE: Week 9 PPR Fantasy Football Rankings

His 40 rushing yards or more in every game since Week 3 are adding over a touchdown’s worth of upside to Fields floor. The addition of Chase Claypool gives Fields another weapon, and while Week 9 against Miami is challenging, upcoming games against the Lions, Falcons, and Jets should keep Fields in the QB1 conversation up until his Week 14 bye.

Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts

The consensus 1.01 of 2022 fantasy drafts, Jonathan Taylor has been a disappointment. After rushing for 161 yards in Week 1, Taylor has yet to crack 100 yards in a game since. Not only that, he hasn’t finished inside the top 20 since the season opener.

An ankle injury has hampered his season unquestionably, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is still dealing with that, but the most significant impact on Taylor right now is the Colts in general. The rotating carousel of QBs continues, and the offensive line is playing abysmal. What used to be holes are now no longer there, and it’s forcing Taylor to second-guess rather than just play instinctual football which is when he was at his best.

New England does struggle against the run, but Taylor is performing closer to a low-end RB2 than the first overall draft pick. He is still holding onto RB1 status for now in our rest-of-season rankings, but by no means are managers getting what they paid for on draft day.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions

Do you remember how Amon-Ra St. Brown went ballistic at the end of last year? You’re about to get that again, but this time for half a season. With T.J. Hockenson being moved to the Minnesota Vikings and Jamison Williams looking unlikely to play any time soon, if, at all, in 2022, St. Brown is about to see as many targets as he could possibly desire.

That started on Sunday against the Dolphins when St. Brown recorded double-digit targets (10) with seven receptions for 69 yards in his first game back after suffering a concussion in Week 7.

MORE: Week 9 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Recommendations

If we look at his four healthy games this year, St. Brown is averaging 10.75 targets, 7.5 receptions, 80.5 yards, and 0.75 touchdowns per game. That’s 20.05 PPR/game and would have him sitting as the WR6 in per game average, just behind Justin Jefferson and ahead of Ja’Marr Chase and A.J. Brown. I was high on him coming into the year, but St. Brown has reached a new height as he cracks the top 10 wide receivers for the rest of the season.
