Drake London, WR, Atlanta Falcons
Over the last few years, fantasy football managers have been spoiled by rookie receivers coming into the league dominating, seemingly from the word go. That’s why Drake London, who came into the season as the No. 1 ranked rookie WR, has been a disappointment, as he hasn’t matched the same production levels of years past.
I can’t even blame him for it at all. Atlanta won’t throw the ball. Last week, London scored a touchdown for the second straight game on his lone catch for two yards and saw only three targets the entire time. Remember, this is a game where Kyle Pitts tore his MCL and was unavailable.
London’s 27.1% target share is the 10th highest in the NFL, and he’s recorded 25.1% of the air yards. Both of those are elite. But you’re bound to disappoint when you sit 52nd in routes run (95%) unless you score a touchdown or break a long play on every opportunity.
London sits right on the cusp of WR3 territory simply because if Atlanta throws the ball, it will have to be toward him. Knowing his skill set, that’s a bet I’m willing to make. There’s a good chance London rises in the next edition of the rest-of-season rankings, but Atlanta has to prove it on their side first.
Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers
It’s no surprise here that Christian Watson, once again, finds himself climbing the rest-of-season rankings for Week 12 and is now in the WR3 range.
After a three-touchdown performance with 107 yards in Week 10, Watson recorded two more touchdowns on four of six receiving for 48 yards against the Tennessee Titans. He’s finished as the WR3 and WR8, respectively, in back-to-back weeks but could fall back to Earth in Week 12.
Green Bay plays the Philadelphia Eagles, who have likely the best cornerback duo in the NFL with Darius Slay and James Bradberry.
Watson also gets another knock against him due to having a Week 14 bye. With matchups against the Rams, Dolphins, and Vikings for the playoffs, Watson is certainly a name I want to have on my fantasy team when the time is right.
Latavius Murray, RB, Denver Broncos
It sure wasn’t pretty, but like last year, Latavius Murray is holding off the age cliff thanks to volume. Murray rushed 17 times for 49 yards in Week 11 but fell into the end zone and salvaged his day. He also caught all four of his targets for 23 yards during the loss to finish as the RB12.
There’s no question about it, Denver’s rushing game has been a mess this year, especially after the unfortunate loss of Javonte Williams. However, Murray has finished as a top-36 running back in his last six straight games, and with the team releasing Melvin Gordon III due to his continued fumbling issues, Murray is now the No. 1 RB that no one ever saw coming.
He’s going to split his reps with Marlon Mack, and although the running game has disappointed, a starting running back is a starting running back when it comes to fantasy. Murray moves into high-end RB3 territory for the rest of the season.
