RB Injury Report Week 6: Christian McCaffrey, Nick Chubb among those out Sunday

With injuries mounting around the NFL, let's look at the Week 6 RB injuries to monitor before Sunday's slate in this fantasy injury update.

Week 6 appears to be giving us a myriad of injuries to navigate as we set our fantasy football rosters on Sunday morning. Chief among them are the running backs, who are hampered, to say the least. Let’s get you caught up with everything we know in this fantasy RB injury report.

    Fantasy Football RB Injury Report

Which RBs should we monitor in advance of Week 6?

    Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers

Christian McCaffrey has been ruled out with a hamstring injury that will cause him to miss his third game in a row. Rookie Chuba Hubbard will be next in line to handle Carolina’s workload after posting 24 carries for 101 rushing yards last week against the Eagles.

    Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

Saquon Barkley has been ruled out with an ankle injury after he was carted off last week. The initial timeline indicated Barkley was expected to miss 2-4 weeks, so he is considered more “week-to-week” at this point (despite being a notoriously fast healer).

    Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

Some good news — Dalvin Cook has been removed from the injury report and is a full-go against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6. With the other injuries around the league, Cook has as good a chance as anyone to finish as Week 6’s RB1.

    Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

Nick Chubb has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Even worse, head coach Kevin Stefanski was reportedly “noncommittal” about whether or not Chubb will have to go on injured reserve. This is a situation to monitor beyond this weekend.

    Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns

Kareem Hunt is dealing with a knee and a wrist injury but should play despite being listed as questionable. Given Chubb’s absence, Hunt will be in line for a massive workload and is locked in as a high-end RB2 with RB1 upside against the Cardinals’ porous run defense.

    Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys

Despite his “questionable” designation on the injury report because of a ribs injury, Ezekiel Elliott is expected to play against the Patriots. He was able to practice in a limited capacity this week and should be good to go.

    Chris Carson, Seattle Seahawks

Chris Carson has been placed on IR with a neck injury, meaning he’ll miss at least the next three games for the Seahawks. The next man up out of Seattle’s backfield will be Alex Collins.

Week 6 Fantasy RB Injury Update

RBs can be the lifeblood of your fantasy team — but injuries take their toll.

    Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team

Antonio Gibson has been dealing with a shin fracture for the past few weeks but has yet to miss any time. He’s expected to be available for a juicy matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

    D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions

D’Andre Swift is dealing with a groin injury and is listed as questionable after a week of limited practices. Despite the designation, Swift is expected to play and should be deployed as usual in your fantasy lineups.

    Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who has been disappointing in fantasy this year, was placed on IR with a knee injury. He’ll be sidelined a minimum of three weeks, opening the door for Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon to see added work.

    Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

Josh Jacobs is dealing with an illness but is not listed with an injury designation and is slated to play. It’s an odd week for the Raiders, given the Jon Gruden situation, and they play a tough Denver Broncos defense. You might not have any other choice than to play Jacobs — but temper expectations.

    Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals

Listed as questionable with an ankle injury, Joe Mixon is expected to play. Head coach Zac Taylor said that Mixon will receive a full workload and won’t be on any kind of snap-count limit. So it sounds like the Bengals running back is a full-go. Fire him up against the Detroit Lions.

    Damien Harris, New England Patriots

Damien Harris is battling a rib injury and is listed as questionable. He was able to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday, but his workload could be in doubt even if he does play.

    Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos

Melvin Gordon is listed as questionable with a leg injury but appears on track to play. His biggest barrier to being fantasy relevant isn’t his leg injury — it’s the emergence of rookie running back Javonte Williams.

    Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions

Although he’s listed as questionable for Week 6 with an illness and a hip injury, Jamaal Williams is expected to play. He’ll assume his normal complementary role to starting back D’Andre Swift, which has allowed him to log double-digit carries in each of the last three weeks.
