QB and TE Fantasy Injury Report Week 13: Updates on Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, Pat Freiermuth, and more

If we want to be successful fantasy managers, we need to remain current on player injuries -- so, here's the Week 13 QB and TE injury report.

It’s time for the Week 13 QB and TE fantasy injury report. What are the health statuses of quarterbacks and tight ends we might want to start this Sunday or Monday? Here is everything you need to know about your fantasy football stars and their injuries.

Fantasy QB Injury Report

The following QBs either have notable injuries or are coming off some. How will this impact their fantasy value going forward and the value of their potential replacements?

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Justin Fields returned to a limited practice Wednesday as he recovers from cracked ribs. Andy Dalton still took the first-team reps and is expected to start Sunday.

It will be interesting to see if Chicago turns back to Fields when he’s healthy, or if Dalton can shock the world and help lead the Bears to an unlikely victory over the Cardinals in Week 13, perhaps extending his run as the QB1.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Update 12/05/2021: ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Gardner Minshew will start today, meaning Jalen Hurts will sit.

According to Derrick Gunn, Jalen Hurts (ankle) has been ruled out of Week 13’s matchup against the New York Jets. Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles will wait to see how Hurts feels Sunday before making it official. On Friday, head coach Nick Sirianni shared that Hurts (ankle) would be questionable, but clearly, his ankle is a more considerable concern than initially believed.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars’ QB Gardner Minshew is slated to start after splitting the first-team reps with Hurts during the week. Minshew has only played in garbage time this season (Week 8). But as a former starter, Minshew should be able to keep the offense moving, although they lose the dynamic rushing ability of Hurts.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Update 12/03/2021: Daniel Jones has been ruled out for Week 13.

After initially being ruled out this week with a neck issue, the tune has changed on Daniel Jones. He’s now firmly questionable for Sunday. Journeyman Mike Glennon would start if Jones can’t go. It’s hard to know which one would fare worse.

Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

As we all know by now, Baker Mayfield has been dealing with injuries to his shoulder, knee, and foot. He’s also helming one of the NFL’s worst passing attacks. Case Keenum might be an upgrade at this point, but Mayfield should play this week, which is neither good nor bad news for fantasy managers.

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Update 12/05/2021: Murray has been declared active for today.

Kyler Murray has been limited at practice due to his ankle sprain, which seems far more serious than initially believed. Murray echoed head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s comments of being “hopeful” he plays this weekend. Even if he starts, there should be some concern about his prospects. His expert-consensus QB3 Week 13 ranking is not aligned with reality.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers is apparently dealing with a broken toe. He recently said, “I don’t plan on missing time,” and there are reports that the surgery question is a matter of “when,” not “if.” Since Rodgers has been playing with this toe injury for weeks, managers should not be scared off unless his playing status grows more precarious.

Fantasy TE Injury Report

Looking at the injury report for fantasy tight ends in Week 13, are there any players we should be concerned about? And what is the fantasy value for those impacted?

Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts

Jack Doyle is active today. He’s been dealing with a knee injury, as he missed practice Wednesday before returning in a limited capacity on Thursday.

Coming off his best performance of the season, the occasional TE streamer will be on a few desperate managers’ radars for Sunday’s game.

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

One of PFN’s favorite undervalued TEs earlier this season, Pat Freiermuth suffered a concussion in Week 12. However, he’s been practicing in full this week and should be good to go this Sunday. Continue to fire him up as one of the most TD-friendly tight ends.

Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears

Cole Kmet is active today. He missed practice Wednesday with a groin injury and returned to a limited practice on Thursday. As my longtime readers know, he was one of my two favorite bargain TEs during the preseason (he was getting drafted as a back-end TE2/high-end TE3). Kmet will return to the field in Week 13 and remains a good bet to be a top-three target for Andy Dalton.

Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders

Darren Waller is out for Week 13. Interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said Darren Waller has a week-to-week status with a sprained IT (iliotibial) band in his knee. We will monitor his condition and report on any improvements. In the meantime, talented backup TE Foster Moreau could be a sneaky streamer while Waller remains on the shelf.
