NFL Playoff Quarterback Streamers
As we look towards the 2021 NFL playoffs, keep in mind players that are likely to play in multiple games. Even some of the best fantasy quarterbacks fall in our rankings as they are likely to be eliminated in the opening round.
As we look towards the Wild Card round of the 2022 playoffs, a few quarterbacks rise above the rest as they have advantageous matchups or game scripts that should promote scoring. Which QBs in our rankings deserve more consideration as starters on Wild Card Weekend?
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
The fantasy upside of a rushing QB is undeniable. In 2021, 10 of the top 12 quarterbacks in fantasy scoring all had 100+ rushing yards. Six of those had over 200. Last season, 10 of the top 12 also had 100+ and eight had 200 or more.
In 2021, no QB had more rushing yards (784) or TDs (10) than Jalen Hurts. Of his 321.2 fantasy points (No. 9), 138.4 came on the ground, which accounts for 43% of his fantasy production.
Hurts is one of the best values of the week at $6,100 on DraftKings. In a game where we expect the Eagles to fall behind, Hurts’ mobility makes him almost immune to negative game scripts. The last time these teams faced off (Week 6), Hurts had 44 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries. He is a phenomenal play in the Wild Card round and could be a cheap stack with Dallas Goedert.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers
Jimmy Garoppolo ($5,300) is the third-cheapest quarterback on DraftKings, just ahead of Ben Roethlisberger ($5,200) and Mac Jones ($5,100). But of those three, Garoppolo is the only one to consider. And I might do more than just consider him, as the stacking possibilities are as good as it gets.
Deebo Samuel has been sensational in his breakout season. Brandon Aiyuk got himself out of Kyle Shanahan’s dog house and became a focal point of the passing game, and George Kittle is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. All Garoppolo needs to do is get the ball in their hands and let them make plays in space.
His thumb injury will be an issue (as displayed in Week 18), but he still finished the game with 316 passing yards. While his season average is 254 passing yards per game, that number shot up over the past month, as he averaged 293.6 yards per game in December. Add in Elijah Mitchell — who will see ample volume and keep the Dallas defense on the field — and look out for Garoppolo to be one of the better options this week in fantasy rankings.
