While rankings and projections are beneficial, few things are more important in fantasy football than following injury updates. Injuries not only impact the player in question but the teammates and the offenses around them. Here’s an update on some critical injury reports to watch and their fantasy football impact.
Update 11/21/21: For the most recent injury news, check out our up-to-date Week 11 Fantasy Injury Report.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB update
Let’s go through the injuries currently impacting quarterbacks. Monitor these situations throughout the week and have contingency plans, if necessary.
Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns
Baker Mayfield hurt his knee last week. Mayfield has been banged up all season yet, somehow, has missed only one start. This is another injury he plans to play through. Expect him to be limited in practice but ultimately play in Week 11.
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Operating with Colt McCoy at the helm, the Cardinals were embarrassed at home by the Panthers last week. Kyler Murray was much closer to playing in Week 10 than he was in Week 9.
If it were a playoff game or key late-season game, Murray certainly would’ve been out there. With a road date in Seattle on tap, expect Murray to make his return from his ankle injury this week.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: RB update
Which running backs are dealing with injuries that may affect their game status? Let’s see which RB committees are hobbled heading into Week 11.
Saquon Barkley, New York Giants
Saquon Barkley practiced Monday for the first time since spraining his ankle. Coming out of the bye, Giants beat reporter Jordan Raanan said Barkley looks ready to return Monday night against the Buccaneers.
Damien Harris, New England Patriots
After missing Week 10 with a concussion, Damien Harris did not participate in the Patriots’ estimated practice Monday. With the team playing Thursday night, Harris faces an uphill battle to get cleared.
Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers
The worst injury of Week 10 belongs to Aaron Jones. The Packers running back sprained his MCL, which is typically a 4-6 week injury. Fortunately for Jones, his sprain is categorized as extremely mild and is expected to cost him only 1-2 weeks.
The Packers have a Week 13 bye, so it looks like Jones will return for the final week of the fantasy regular season.
Cordarrelle Patterson, Atlanta Falcons
The running back/wide receiver hybrid suffered a mild high ankle sprain during Sunday’s blowout loss to the Cowboys. With the Falcons on a short week, Cordarrelle Patterson is not going to be able to play Thursday. The injury is expected to cost him 1-3 weeks. Mike Davis and Wayne Gallman will split carries in the interim.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: WR Injury Update
How are the fantasy-relevant wide receivers dealing with injuries? Let’s see which pass catchers may require a Plan B for Week 11’s action.
Antonio Brown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Antonio Brown remains out with a heel injury. He’s not going to play Week 11.
CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys
CeeDee Lamb exited Sunday’s game with an arm contusion. He didn’t play following the injury, but the game was also as non-competitive as it gets. A contusion doesn’t seem like the type of injury to keep Lamb from playing, but check back with us throughout the week for updates on his practice participation level to be sure.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: TE Injury Update
Are there any tight end injuries we need to be concerned about? The TE market is already thin, so if you have a TE on this injury report, your alternatives will be grim in all likelihood.
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles lost Dallas Goedert in the first half after he took a hit to the helmet. Goedert is in the concussion protocol, which is always tricky to navigate. If Goedert can’t clear protocols, former-QB-turned-TE Tyree Jackson could be an interesting option.
Rob Gronkowski, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay was once again without Rob Gronkowski last week due to back spasms. Expect him to miss practice all week and not play in Week 11 as well.
Ricky Seals-Jones and Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team
Logan Thomas remains on injured reserve with a hamstring strain. Unfortunately, Ricky Seals-Jones went down last week with a hip issue. If RSJ can’t play, perhaps Thomas finally makes his return.
