DFS Thursday Night Football Picks for NFL Week 2: Are Josh Allen, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle Locks?

In search of some DFS Thursday Night Football picks to start the week? Look no further! Here are the best plays for the Bills-Dolphins Week 2 matchup.

Did your fantasy season get off to a rough start in Week 1? If it did, I’m sorry to hear that.

That only gives you more reason to avenge your Week 1 fantasy football loss by putting together a winning DFS team on DraftKings for the Thursday Night Football (TNF) showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

A stack of Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle are only a few of my top DFS plays for the Week 2 contest on TNF.

Let’s find some fantasy football wins to start Week 2 of the NFL season!

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins Top TNF DFS Picks on DraftKings

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills ($16,500) – Captain

Let’s start here — Josh Allen isn’t human.

In a week where scoring was down across the league, Allen managed to produce 261 total and four total touchdowns in an impressive offensive performance in his first game without All-Pro WR Stefon Diggs.

Did the Dolphins’ defense give Trevor Lawrence some issues in Week 1? Yes. Is that enough to scare me off from putting the most dominant fantasy football scoring machine of the last four years in my captain’s spot in this DFS lineup? Absolutely not.

Allen averaged 30 fantasy points per game against the Dolphins last season, and with a young receiving group still attempting to sort the pass-catching pecking order early in the season, expect Allen to put the team on his back if necessary to keep pace with a high-powered Dolphins offense.

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins ($9,400)

Last year, Tua Tagovailoa led the league in passing yards. After the first week of the 2024 NFL season, Tagovailoa leads the league in passing yards.

The Dolphins’ running game was stymied by the Jacksonville front seven in Week 1, which led to Tagovailoa having to take to the air to generate scoring drives. This helped produce two 100-yard receiving performances on the same team last week.

The Dolphins may be forced to rely on a pass-heavy game script again with Raheem Mostert already ruled out for Thursday Night Football and De’Von Achane being a game-time decision while dealing with an ankle injury.

If the Bills force the Dolphins to be one dimensional in this contest, you will want to make sure Tagovailoa is in your lineup.

Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins ($11,600)

It was a weird start to the 2024 season for Tyreek Hill when a traffic stop went sideways prior to kickoff on Sunday.

Yet, it was business as usual for The Cheetah on the football field with his seven receptions for 130 yards and a score in the season-opening win against the Jaguars.

As we are all aware, it only takes one big play for Hill to elevate your DFS lineup into a winning ticket, which was evident by his 80-yard touchdown in Week 1.

Oddly enough, Hill has never topped 100 yards receiving against the Bills during his two years with the Dolphins.

However, if the backfield is shorthanded without Mostert and potentially Achane, expect the Dolphins to lean heavily on Hill to engineer scoring drives against the Bills.

Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami Dolphins ($8,600)

Remember when I said two players on the same team went for over 100 yards receiving in Week 1? Well, Jaylen Waddle made the most of his five targets against Jacksonville — catching all five for 109 yards in a complementary role to Hill.

Unlike Hill, Waddle has actually given this Buffalo secondary issues during their time together over the last two seasons, going for 100+ receiving yards in both regular season contests against this Bills secondary back in 2022.

Waddle is a WR1 in a WR2 situation behind Hill, but if Achane is either unavailable or limited in any capacity against Buffalo, then Waddle could see an expanded role in the passing game in Week 2.

Jaylen Wright, RB, Miami Dolphins ($2,000)

In case you are unfamiliar with the other Jaylen on the Dolphins roster, rookie RB Jaylen Wright is expected to potentially see his first NFL action of his career after being deemed a healthy scratch for the season opener against Jacksonville.

You may wonder why I am recommending him for this DFS build. It’s a reasonable thought, but if Achane is inactive in this contest, then I expect to see quite a bit of Wright in his NFL debut alongside Jeff Wilson Jr.

In this scenario, Wilson is the betting favorite to lead the backfield in touches. Yet, Wright has the type of explosive big-play ability to be a difference-maker for your DFS lineup with low ownership in this Showdown format.

If Achane is active, I would simply pivot to Wilson in your lineup, who is just $400 more expensive than Wright on DraftKings.

Mack Hollins, WR, Buffalo Bills ($1,600)

The Bills’ passing attack didn’t exactly give us many concrete answers after their Week 1 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Keon Coleman led all receivers on the roster in targets (five), receptions (four), and receiving yards, while Khalil Shakir had the highest-scoring fantasy with three receptions for 42 yards and a score.

Curtis Samuel was on the field for just 27.6% of the snaps, and Dalton Kincaid was on the field a lot but was a complete non-factor with just one reception for 11 yards on two targets.

Yet, one overlooked player was Mack Hollins. His two receptions for 25 yards and a score didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard, but his 60.3% snap share was the second-highest of the receiver group last week, which makes him a player who is at least a threat to score in this high-powered offense because of his constant presence on the field.

At just $1,600, getting a piece of this WR room who clearly has an early-season role to stack with the captain of your DFS squad makes too much sense to pass up.
