Playing matchups is crucial for successful defensive streaming. Here are our fantasy defense rankings and streamers for Week 5.

Knowing which defenses to start in fantasy football can be critical to winning your matchups. This position, arguably more so than any other, is matchup-dependent on a weekly basis, and the best results can be obtained by being flexible with a streaming strategy. Here’s a look at our Week 5 fantasy defense rankings and the top options to stream this week.

Top Fantasy Defense Streamers in Week 5

After a month of football, we finally have some meaningful data to work with heading into Week 5. Here are my top fantasy defense streamers, all of which are rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues.

Minnesota Vikings (vs. CHI)

No one would mistake the Vikings for having a quality defense. They’ve given up 49 points the past two weeks. But in fantasy, when it comes to streaming defenses, the caliber of the opposing offense matters far more than the actual defense itself.

Every season, without fail, there is always a defensive streaming punching bag. This year, that guy is Justin Fields (sorry, Justin!).

Fields is averaging just 117 passing yards per game. His 174 against the Giants in Week 4 marked his season high. He’s taken 16 sacks on the season, including 11 in the past two weeks.

The Vikings sacked Andy Dalton twice in London. They didn’t record a sack in Week 3 but recorded seven in the first two weeks. They’ve also forced six turnovers on the season. Available in nearly 60% of Yahoo leagues, the Vikings are this week’s top defensive streamer.

Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. HOU)

Prior to Week 4, the Jaguars had actually been pretty good defensively. In Week 2, they shut out the Colts. In Week 3, they held the Chargers to just 10 points.

I don’t want to hold Week 4 against the Jaguars. They played in a monsoon, and Trevor Lawrence did them no favors by losing four fumbles. All things considered, they actually did well to contain Jalen Hurts, holding him to 204 scoreless yards through the air.

The Jaguars legitimately have a good defense. They’ve recorded nine sacks and forced nine turnovers on the season. Additionally, the matchup this week is great. Davis Mills has struggled the past two weeks, throwing two interceptions in each game.

Not only are the Jaguars a great streamer this week, but they might be worth hanging onto. After the Texans, they get the Colts on the road and then three consecutive home games against the Giants, Broncos, and Raiders. I believe they’re usable in all of those games. Available in nearly 90% of Yahoo leagues, go get the Jaguars this week if you need a defense.

Tennessee Titans (at WAS)

The Titans are another defense that isn’t particularly good. They’re allowing 25.25 points per game. Once again, though, it’s about the opponent.

Carson Wentz had a scorching start to the season, but he’s fallen back down to earth the past two weeks. In Week 4, the Cowboys sacked Wentz twice and picked him off twice. The week before, Wentz took nine sacks. The week before that, he took five. He’s turned the ball over six times this season.

The Titans weren’t terrible against the Colts last week. They held them to 17 points, recorded three sacks, a pick, and recovered two fumbles. They have 10 total sacks on the season and six forced turnovers.

You can find the Titans on 90% of Yahoo waiver wires. They aren’t necessarily the best streaming option, but you can do far worse than stream against Wentz.
