Williams has unveiled its new logo for the 2026 F1 season, and it marks a nostalgic walk down memory lane for one of the sport’s most storied teams.
The logo slightly deviates from their 2025 emblem, presenting a throwback to some of Williams’s golden years in the 20th century.

The team’s initial years in F1 were among its most successful to date. It took them a mere three campaigns to feature on the podium. When the outfit was named Albilad-Saudia Racing Team in 1979, Alan Jones and Clay Regazzoni powered the unreliable FW06 to a third-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship.
Ford-Cosworth V8s marked their rise to the top, as 1980 saw Williams’s first-ever F1 constructors’ and drivers’ titles. Jones beat the likes of Nelson Piquet, Gilles Villeneuve, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Alain Prost to win the 14-race season, while the team trumped legendary names like Brabham-Ford, Ferrari, Lotus, and McLaren.
They went on to make it two constructors’ titles in a row in 1981, as Carlos Reutemann and Jones finished second and third, respectively, in the FW07C.
After missing out on the podium for the next couple of years, a new partnership with Honda reignited a journey back to the top. Running Honda RA16 power units from 1984 to 1986, the team climbed back to the top of F1, where it stayed for another two straight years.
However, severing ties with Honda after the ’86 campaign marked the end of the outfit’s reign at the summit.
It was only when they teamed up with Renault from the 1989 season that they worked their way back into title contention again.
Running Renault’s RS engines marked the longest era of Williams’ success. Names like Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, and Jacques Villeneuve all saw great success with the outfit that went 5-for-6 in constructors’ titles from 1992 to 1997.
Sadly for the Williams faithful, the team’s dynasty from the ’90s was an era that it couldn’t live up to ever since.
They were frequent contenders from the late ’90s to early 2000s, but never saw another title once they parted ways with Renault.
Failed experiments with BMW, Cosworth, and Toyota resulted in nothing more than runner-up finishes two times. They even revisited a partnership with Renault from 2012 to 2013 in hopes of returning to the glory days. However, that flame burned out back during the V10 era.
Williams’s throwback logo for the 2026 season is a nod to the team’s success from years past. Perhaps there’s something special to unlock next year.
