Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been a constant feature of NFL news cycles since the 2025 pre-draft process began. After his humiliating fall to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders has been the primary focus of reporters when it comes to the Browns’ offseason.
After receiving a lot of positive media attention for his performances in camp, things took a turn when Sanders was caught on the wrong side of the law. The quarterback was pulled over for traveling over 100 mph in his vehicle, a decision that former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker has called “mind-boggling.”

Ross Tucker Questions Shedeur Sanders’ Character After Repeated Driving Offenses
During a recent episode of “The Ross Tucker Podcast,” Tucker voiced his concern at Sanders’ actions, struggling to understand the player’s thought process. Sanders was pulled over for traveling 41 mph over the posted speed limit, despite having been pulled over for the same offense less than two weeks prior.
Sanders failed to show up for his court date for the first offense and is now facing a second court date on Thursday, July 3. Speaking about the incidents, Tucker revealed his bemusement at the young quarterback’s recklessness.
“Last week, when it came out that he got a speeding ticket, I said, ‘It’s not really that big a deal,'” Tucker said. “I feel very differently about it now. The logic, or the mindset, to have gotten a speeding ticket and then, less than two weeks later, you’re driving over 100 miles an hour? Over 40 miles an hour over the speed limit? Less than two weeks after you just got a ticket? I don’t know if that’s entitlement or immaturity. There’s gotta be some teams that are feeling very good right now, that they didn’t draft him.”

Tucker did go on to admit that not all star quarterbacks had been completely free of issues when it came to the law, but didn’t offer much hope for Sanders.
“Listen, there are definitely franchise quarterbacks that have had success after making mistakes like this, but not many,” Tucker said. “Not many that have the mindset, whatever that is, to do something like this twice in that short of a timeframe, to not learn from he mistake two weeks earlier. It’s honestly mind-boggling to me.”
To be fair to Sanders, speeding is a far more common occurrence than many would like to admit. But having declared to all who would listen that he was going to change the culture of whichever franchise drafted him, he’s made an embarrassing start.
Sanders’ pre-draft doubters were ridiculed for suggesting that he had all the flash and arrogance of a star, without having shown the ability. Being caught speeding twice in two weeks as the Browns’ current fourth-string quarterback has done nothing to prove those doubters wrong. A fifth-round pick is far from an indispensable asset, and having already been passed on multiple times by the rest of the league, Sanders may want to shape up fast.
