The Philadelphia Eagles were the most dominant team in the NFL last season, and it was a team effort as they reeled off a 14-3 record en route to a Super Bowl championship. The franchise has now hoisted two Lombardi Trophies in seven years.
But, as the Eagles prepare for their Super Bowl defense, several changes on the roster have forced their hand. They seem to be pivoting to accumulating and rewarding young talent due to salary cap concerns — and one key offensive position could be greatly impacted heading into the 2025 season.

Eagles Predicted To Trade Dallas Goedert in Bold Draft-Day Move
Dallas Goedert was an unsung hero last season as the Philadelphia Eagles capped one of the most impressive campaigns in recent memory with a dominant 40–22 Super Bowl win. They beat up on the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs without much of a fight on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.
While other rostered players got more of the spotlight — and rightfully so — Goedert played an instrumental role in the team’s success. He caught 42 balls for 496 yards and two touchdowns despite missing seven games due to a knee injury.
Goedert has been a rock in Philly. But after seven seasons with the same franchise, his future is starting to look uncertain. He’s under contract through 2025, but anything beyond that is up in the air. That’s why PFSN’s Kyle Soppe predicts he could be traded for draft capital in the coming weeks.
“Dallas Goedert is in the final year of his deal and no longer holds a critical role on the Philadelphia Eagles. Rumors have swirled around him this spring, and I think a trade may come together sooner than later, with Philadelphia opting to get younger at the position on the second or third day of the draft,” Soppe wrote.
“Could the Colts view Goedert as a short-term solution to their TE room as they try to make the playoffs in 2025? Might a veteran like Goedert be appealing to the Giants as they rebuild their offense, likely with a rookie QB?
“A trade like this wouldn’t change the hierarchy of the NFL, but any move from the defending champions is worth noting, and there seems to be plenty of momentum behind them moving on from Goedert.”
Production Dip Could Expedite Major NFL Trade
Goedert’s 496 receiving yards were his lowest total since his rookie year, although a lingering knee injury played a major factor in that regression. That’s a notch below his production in his three previous seasons when he accounted for at least 55 catches, 590 yards, and three touchdowns in each campaign.
But his 2025 playoff performance was a different story. Over four postseason games, Goedert racked up 215 yards and converted nine first downs. While he still remains an asset, the Eagles might get a better value for him in a trade. It should also be noted that the Eagles don’t have much depth at the tight end spot behind Goedert.
