The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense is already among the best in the league.
The unit ranks No. 10 in PFSN’s metrics with an impact score of 79.2, as it trails the Green Bay Packers (No. 9) and slots just ahead of the Buffalo Bills (No. 11). Philadelphia’s secondary is led by cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell along with the safety duo of Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown.
However, some are growing frustrated with the performance of cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson and Kelee Ringo, which could lead to a major addition for the Eagles.

Eagles Showing Interest in Reuniting With Darius Slay Jr.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that the Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing veteran cornerback Darius Slay Jr. The Steelers had signed Slay Jr. to a one-year, $10 million contract in the offseason.
Schefter also noted that “Slay is interested in continuing to play, and will consider signing with other teams.”
It didn’t take long for organizations to begin expressing intrigue in the six-time Pro Bowler, as NBC’s John Clark reported Slay Jr. and the Philadelphia Eagles have mutual interest in reuniting if he clears waivers.
After spending the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Detroit Lions, Slay Jr. was traded to the Eagles in 2020. He spent five years in Philadelphia, where he recorded nine interceptions and was a phenomenal player for the defense.
Slay Jr. may no longer be the player he once was, but he can still contribute on a winning team. He is the No. 83-ranked cornerback in the league, per PFSN’s metrics, with a CB impact score of 69.8.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Eagles are interested in Slay Jr. given one of their biggest moves at the trade deadline. Philadelphia traded for veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander, but he stepped away from football to focus on his health.
