The Miami Dolphins have to make a final decision on the future of wide receiver Tyreek Hill. While his first two seasons went by seemingly without a hitch, last year brought a whole host of rumors about potential trades for the superstar wide receiver.
Thanks to his personality, Hill had a role to play in the rumors going viral, with constant teasing on social media. Now, according to one analyst, it might be time for the Dolphins to seriously consider moving on from the legendary pass catcher.

Could the Miami Dolphins Finally Trade Tyreek Hill?
For a majority of the 2024 NFL season, rumors about Hill potentially finding a new home made the rounds, egged on by the man himself. Then, after missing the playoffs for the first time in his career, he had an infamous locker room rant that essentially looked like a trade demand.
“I just got to do what’s best for me and my family,” Hill said at the time. “I’m opening the door. I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I got to do what’s best for my career because I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”
However, over the summer, he changed his tune on a potential trade request, committing to Miami and publicly apologizing directly to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Still, Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report believes it might be a smart idea for Miami to move off of him, especially with the money he commands.
“The Dolphins must consider all of their options, as the 31-year-old has a $27.7 million cap hit this season and a staggering $51.9 million in 2026,” he wrote.
With those numbers, a contract renegotiation or a trade is firmly on the board of possibilities.

“The Dolphins won’t get anywhere near what they originally sent to the Kansas City Chiefs for Hill,” he wrote.
At the time, Miami gave up a first-rounder, second-rounder, sixth-rounder, and a pair of fourth-round picks. Instead, Sobleski believes Hill might command a second-rounder and a fourth-rounder this time around.
Still, “the chance to clear his contract and no longer worry about how invested he is from one day to the next could be a net positive,” he notes. Additionally, the Dolphins currently have the personnel to at least mitigate some of the damage his loss would cause.
“The Dolphins still have wideout Jaylen Waddle and tight end Jonnu Smith on the roster,” Sobleski wrote. “No one can outright replace Hill, but Miami has to consider the possibility of a soft reset, especially with cornerback Jalen Ramsey also on the market.”
At 31, Hill might be starting to show some signs of regression. After back-to-back seasons of over 1,700 receiving yards, he was staking a claim as the best wide receiver in the world. However, last year, he failed to tally even 1,000 yards.
Some of that was due to Tagovailoa missing significant time due to injury. However, at 31, Miami has to decide if he is taking a step back on the field and if the diminished production is worth the locker room distraction.
