Dolphins Extend RB Raheem Mostert

The NFL’s 2023 leader in rushing touchdowns agreed to a two-year extension worth up to $9.1 million with $3.7 million guaranteed.

That is a significant bump in both AAV and guaranteed money. Mostert was set to earn just $2.4 million in base this year with nothing guaranteed.

The deal ensures Mostert will have a major role on the Dolphins’ offense again this year after setting a franchise record in both rushing (18) and total (25) touchdowns. He also led the team in carries (209) and rushing yards (1,012).

Mike Macdonald Makes Positive Comments on Dolphins’ Anthony Weaver

New Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver wasn’t at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting in Orlando, Fla., this week, but a ton of his friends were — and the consensus was the Dolphins made a very smart hire.

New Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald, who worked closely with Weaver during their two years together on John Harbaugh’s staff with the Baltimore Ravens, made positive remarks about the Dolphins’ new hire.

“When did I figure he’d be a good DC? When he was in Houston,” Macdonald told PFN. “That’s the first time I ever saw him, and I thought he did a great job there and just working with him on a day-to-day basis. This is someone that I have huge respect for, just as a human being and a leader. Incredibly smart.”

Miami Dolphins-Green Bay Packers Linebackers Coach Swap

The Dolphins and Packers swapped defensive assistants, with Anthony Campanile going to Green Bay and Joe Barry replacing him in South Florida.

PFN caught up with Packers coach Matt LaFleur this week at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting.

“Camp, there were a couple of teams after him. [New Packers DC Jeff] Hafley, I think he had to do his best recruiting to get him to come to Green Bay. Certainly, I did as well. But I think that, you know, we haven’t had players in yet, but I love the energy that he brings. I expect to see that on the field.

“And then in regards to Joe Barry, I think you guys know how I feel — or these guys know how I feel about Joe. I think he’s a tremendous person, phenomenal football coach. I was talking to Mike McDaniel about him the other day, or yesterday, as a matter of fact. I said ‘You’ve got one of my favorites.’ And I think he’s a guy that I think he will excel in that role down in Miami.”

Dolphins Select Troy Fautanu in Mock Draft

In the latest Miami Dolphins mock draft from Pro Football Network’s Oliver Hodgkinson, the Dolphins picked up several solid additions.

In Round 1, Hodgkinson selected offensive tackle Troy Fautanu out of Washington.

“With Washington Huskies offensive tackle Troy Fautanu still on the board in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, the Dolphins turn down several trade attempts to land a versatile and powerful weapon for their offense,” Hodgkinson wrote. “A long-term replacement option for the aging Terron Armstead, Fautanu can play inside at guard as a rookie before making the move back out to the bookend down the line.”
