After weeks of trade speculation, the Seattle Seahawks finally pulled the trigger, sending star wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the move itself was a shock, Metcalf’s recent comments about leaving Seattle have stirred even more controversy, leaving many Seahawks fans stunned and frustrated.

Seahawks Trade DK Metcalf to the Steelers
The Seahawks traded Metcalf and a sixth-round pick in the 2025 draft to the Steelers in exchange for a second and seventh-round pick, both in 2025. The trade is very interesting for both teams.
On the Steelers’ side of things, they now pair George Pickens with Metcalf out wide, creating a dangerous duo of star playmakers. Once they figure out the quarterback situation, Mike Tomlin’s squad could end up being more explosive on the offensive side of the ball in 2025.
The Seahawks trading away Metcalf helped them open up cap space as the offense was revamped in the offseason. The trio of Metcalf, fellow receiver Tyler Lockett, and quarterback Geno Smith is a thing of the past. Jaxon Smith-Njigba remains and will most likely become WR1.
The up-and-coming star is now joined by Cooper Kupp and the new starting quarterback for the Seahawks, Sam Darnold. How the new-look offense will fair in 2025 remains to be seen.
The trade that sent Metcalf to the Steel City dominated headlines. Now, Metcalf has the football world talking once again after his comments regarding his move away from Seattle.
Metcalf Is Glad To Leave the Seahawks
Metcalf, who was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Seahawks, recently went on the “Get Got Pod” podcast with former Seahawks Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson to talk about the trade.

“But you know, it’s just time for me to move on; the grass is greener on the other side,” Metcalf said.
The comments have since been posted all over the internet, causing buzz around the receiver once again. However, no matter how blunt Metcalf’s comments seemed, it remains hard to blame him for his frustrations and excitement about being somewhere else.
Ever since entering the league out of Ole Miss, Metcalf has been known as an outspoken player who wants to be well-respected. But more importantly, Metcalf has always voiced his desire to win.
During his time in Seattle, Metcalf had multiple coaches and quarterbacks while the team struggled to consistently compete and win. Amidst difficulties during contract negotiations, it became easy to understand why Metcalf wanted out.
Whether or not you agree with Metcalf taking a shot at the team that drafted him, it’s quite clear that the star receiver is excited to be a Steeler and no longer a member of the Seahawks. Will the grass be indeed greener on the other side for Metcalf in 2025? Only time will tell.
