Discussing Gil Brandt’s top ten teams going into 2019 (Nosebleed Seats Podcast)

Gil Brandt’s top ten teams

On June, 20th 2019, Gil Brandt came out swinging with his top ten NFL teams coming into the 2019 season. We won’t list them one by one, but we will leave a LINK and list some of our favorites.

9. Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns surprisingly came in at number nine in the Gil Brandt rankings. On paper, the Browns have the best roster in the NFL. When you look into it, and Brandt mentions this in his article, are the Browns a year away? The hype around the Browns has been so massive and has even got fans speaking of Super Bowl hype. Now it’s time to come back down to earth. The Browns have the potential to be a Super Bowl contender but will rely on first-year head coach Freddie Kitchens. Kitchens will need to control the talent, egos, and prove he can be an NFL coach all in one season full of hype.

2. Dallas Cowboys

Okay so let’s insert the “, ah damn here we go again” meme. The Dallas Cowboys are ranked second on the list of former Cowboys manager Gil Brandt. Coincidence? I think not!

All jokes aside, the Cowboys are entering 2019 as a more talented team that 2018. Leighton Vander Esch was a pick that was criticized last season with fans wanting different players. Then, Vander Esch showed the world that he was going to be one of the best linebackers in the game. Vander Esch dominated as a rookie and was an anchor for that Cowboys defense.

Adding Vander Esch to the mix of a healthy Jaylon Smith, the addition of Robert Quinn, and getting DeMarcus Lawrence to sign on the dotted line makes the Cowboys ready to roll in 2019. They will need someone to the right the ship all year long, but they have a stout defense and their offense ain’t too shabby.

Questions from the podcast team

Who do you think is the most talented team in the NFL this season? Do you believe that the Cleveland Browns deserve to be number one on Brandt’s list? If not who would your top three teams based on pure roster talent be?
