Derrick Henry has been one of the NFL’s top running backs for most of his career, and that didn’t change in his first year with the Baltimore Ravens. While on The Dan Patrick Show, Henry made a deal with Patrick if he accomplishes a milestone in 2025.

Derrick Henry Reveals What It Will Take for Him to Appear in an Adam Sandler Movie
“I’m going to text him [Adam Sandler] today and ask if he’ll send a video, and then I’m going to send it to the Ravens,” Patrick said to Henry. “If you get to 2,000 yards, I’ll get you in a Sandler movie.”
“Say no more,” Henry responded. “Bet is on. No pressure at all.”
The bet was sparked because Patrick was wearing a sweatshirt that he got from working on the set of Sandler’s upcoming movie, “Happy Gilmore 2,” in which he is making a cameo. Henry wouldn’t be the first NFL star to appear in a Sandler film; Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce is also set to appear alongside Sandler in “Happy Gilmore 2.”
Patrick teased Henry about not getting to 2,000 yards rushing in 2024 after he finished with 1,921 rushing yards and a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns in his first season with the Ravens.
While Henry barely missed the milestone, it wouldn’t have been a first for him if he had reached the 2,000-yard marker. Henry already surpassed 2,000 yards rushing in the 2020 season when he carried the ball 378 times for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns, all of which led the NFL.
His 2020 season was good for the fifth-most rushing yards in a single season in NFL history, while his 2024 total is 11th all-time.
If he were to accomplish the feat again, he would be the first player to rush for 2,000 yards in a season more than once.
Despite rushing for nearly 2,000 yards, Henry was overshadowed in 2024 by Saquon Barkley, who reached the 2,000-yard plateau. Barkley rushed 345 times for 2,005 yards and passed up on the opportunity to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 yards in favor of resting for the final game of the regular season, alongside many other Philadelphia Eagles’ starters.
Henry and Barkley were in their first seasons with their new teams in 2024. With a full season of continuity under their belts with their respective offenses, both figure to be among the league leaders in rushing yards again in 2025.
Whether or not Henry can reach the total for a second time remains to be seen, but he has topped 1,500 yards in his career four times. He is playing alongside dynamic dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson in the backfield in Baltimore, so he can’t be counted out to reach the plateau again.
