The Colorado Buffaloes’ pro day was a success. As a way to drum up interest in the program and draw scouts from all 32 NFL teams, it did the job. But the spotlight was squarely on the two stars expected to go in the first round.
Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter took part after skipping the NFL Scouting Combine. But Sanders’ performance sparked a heated debate in NFL circles — and eventually caught the attention of his head coach and father, Deion Sanders.

Deion Sanders Gets Final World in Shedeur Sanders Argument
The buzz started after clips surfaced showing Sanders patting the ball before throwing. New York Jets safety Andre Cisco was quick to call it out, saying it was a risky move at the pro level.
“Patting the ball is a dead giveaway,” Cisco posted.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons chimed in: “You realize a pat on the ball can be the difference between a sack or throwaway/completion?”
That’s when Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton jumped in with a counter.
“Tom Brady, literally the king of getting the ball out fast, patted the ball when he threw,” Slayton posted on X. “So actually no, patting the ball is not the difference.”
From there, the situation escalated, with the Dallas Cowboys linebacker getting aggravated. However, he was firmly against Slayton’s opinion, considering the use of Tom Brady as a gross overexaggeration.
“Comparing the greatest quarterback ever to Sanders is why I’ll never entertain a football conversation with you!! Like what are we doing here??” Parsons replied.
However, not everyone was looking to get into it, with Miami Dolphins wide receiver and resident social media troll Tyreek Hill trying to calm down the situation.
Playing mediator, he wrote, “Two adidas guys arguing for what!!!” Later, he added, “Y’all boys gotta chill, fr.”

The legendary NFL corner, who won two Super Bowl Championships and has revolutionized Colorado’s program, finally had to intervene. Proud of his son, whom he believes should be one of the first two names on the board, he ended the situation.
Posting the animated avatar of a man folding his hands, he had a simple message: “Can we ALL get along? The Sanders with a Capital ‘S’, we earned that.”

The debate about his quarterback skills will continue until he joins the league. Sanders remains a polarizing figure, but his college numbers are nothing to scoff at.
Turning a one-win program into a nine-win system in two years, he had a remarkable 2024 campaign, adding 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns on an unbelievably absurd 74% completion rate.
However, doubts about his viability as an NFL-caliber quarterback remain. As a result, the latest PFSN mock draft from analyst Reese Decker has him falling out of the first round entirely, instead ending up with the Cleveland Browns in the second round.
Cleveland’s general manager, Andrew Berry, said he would like both Hunter and Sanders on the roster. But this seems more of a pipedream than a reality.
However, if what Decker predicts comes through, Berry will be one overjoyed man.
