Deion Sanders has long been one of the most electric figures in sports. After a legendary career in both the NFL and MLB, he’s now best known as the program-changing head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. He brought the team back from the edge of irrelevance and helped build a legit program that won nine games last season.
He also coached Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and one of the top quarterbacks in the draft—his son, Shedeur Sanders. When asked where he’d like to see his QB play in the NFL, Deion made it clear he had one team in mind.

Deion Sanders Wants To See Shedeur Sanders On the Giants
Before the draft order was even set and mock drafts took over talk of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders wore New York Giants-colored cleats and set social media on fire.
With New York needing a quarterback after the Daniel Jones experiment ended last year, the cleats were a message from the young QB. The Giants are a big-market team once led by Eli Manning, and fans started hoping for a similar story with a big-name player like Sanders.
Now, the Sanders-to-New-York rumors are picking up steam. Legendary draft analysts like Mel Kiper have talked about how well he would fit in New York. And now, Shedeur’s dad is on board, too.
Speaking at ProMat 2025, Deion was asked where he hopes his son lands.
“Let’s hope it’s New York,” Deion said.
With that simple five-word answer, the two-time Super Bowl champ added fuel to the fire.
“Let’s hope it’s New York.”

PFSN’s latest mock draft supports this as well. Ben Rolfe explained the pick in simple terms: “They have the pieces of a developing roster and need a quarterback to take the spotlight. Sanders is the quarterback built to take that spotlight and shine. He may not make the ‘wow’ plays Ward does, but he is the safer projection to the NFL as far as talent.”
Over his four-year college career, Sanders became one of the most efficient quarterback prospects in recent memory. Even behind a shaky offensive line, he threw for 4,134 yards with a 74% completion rate. He added 37 touchdown passes and ran for four more.
Earlier this week at the Big 12 Pro Day, Deion talked about what made his son stand out.
“Shedeur is a winner,” Deion said. “Shedeur is very intelligent, very understanding, like, when we used to travel and they were kids — Going to the airport to we in the Atmos club or wherever and we relaxing, we were on the board [going over plays], man.”
With praise coming from all the right places and Deion making his preference known, the Giants’ dream of landing Shedeur might not be so far off.
