Deion Sanders’ official job title might be head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes college football program, but he’s also a proud dad who just watched two of his sons join NFL teams. Sanders recently shared his thoughts on their performance during organized team activities.
Deion Sanders Calls Having his Sons in the NFL ‘A Beautiful Thing’
Sanders posted a highlight reel of his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, training on Instagram with the caption, “It’s a beautiful thing #CoachPrime.”
The carousel post included two videos and a graphic. In the first video, Shilo Sanders intercepted a pass while wearing Tampa Bay Buccaneers gear. He signed with the team as an undrafted free agent after the most recent NFL Draft.
The second video and the graphic featured Shedeur Sanders, now with the Cleveland Browns after being selected in the fifth round. The clip showed Shedeur throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Tre’ McKitty. The stats Deion shared said Shedeur completed seven of nine passes, including three touchdowns.

The Hall of Famer turned coach will now be watching his sons from a distance for the first time in their football journeys. Deion previously coached Shedeur, Shilo, and his other son, Deion Jr., as offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian High School in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Shilo and Shedeur followed their dad from high school to Jackson State when Deion was hired as head coach, then to Colorado when he took the job there. Altogether, they spent eight seasons playing under him.
NFL Analyst Points Finger at Deion for Causing Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Slide
Deion has faced some heat over Shedeur’s drop in the draft, with NFL insiders suggesting that the quarterback’s fifth-round selection may have been tied to how the draft process was handled.
Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd blamed Deion for Shedeur’s slide during an episode of “The Herd“: “I couldn’t understand why he’s dropping. What in the world is happening? Dad is happening.” He said Deion’s social media presence and high-profile branding may have made some teams hesitant.
Cowherd added, “Quarterback dad has become pageant mom,” calling out Deion’s involvement in his son’s career decisions.
Sanders was once viewed as a potential first-rounder but ultimately landed in the fifth. He’s now in the middle of a quarterback battle in Cleveland with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
