The Los Angeles Rams were in a complicated position heading into free agency. Two standouts of their past half-decade renaissance, Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp, were potentially on their way out, leaving Los Angeles staring at an uncertain situation. While they did bring back Stafford, the team elected to part ways with Kupp.
Instead, they added another veteran wide receiver to replicate his production in the form of Davante Adams. The former Green Bay Packer superstar has entered the twilight of his career, but showed last year that he can still go with the best of them. And he’s quickly endearing himself to the LA fanbase with his youth camp antics.
Davante Adams Slows Down At Youth Camp
Signing on a two-year deal worth $44 million in the summer, Adams is coming to a Rams team that was arguably the toughest challenge for the Philadelphia Eagles en route to their Super Bowl LIX dominance in New Orleans.
Last year, he was solid throughout, tallying over 1,000 yards in just 14 games. A model of consistency, he also offers Rams a relatively injury-free history, something that had become a major concern over the last few years with the Kupp and Puka Nacua duo.
However, before he suits up for the Rams in an actual game, Adams put together a youth camp where he had an interesting challenge. “Alright, whoever beat me, get the watch. If you beat me, you get the watch.”
A simple one-on-one, where things like his watch, shoes, hat, and even his chains were up for grabs for the youngsters in attendance. As he lined up, one of the players was able to cash in and pull down the football.
True to his word, Adams put on the watch himself, explaining, “Deal’s a deal.” As the youngster showcased his new watch, the six-time Pro Bowler had some jokes for the situation. “You just gonna floss it in like that? He hit the Shedeur [Sanders] too. Alright.”

Next, he started putting up other things for the challenge. However, after the initial setback, Adams was completely locked in, not taking the competition lightly. Still, he lost the shoes next, before getting demolished for the hat.
In the end, the chains were the only thing left. However, no one caught the ball in that exchange, leading Adams to prompt, “I wasn’t giving up my chains.” While not the most productive offseason workout, it was a smart choice from the veteran to make fans out of the Los Angeles crowd quickly.
