D’Andre Swift’s Frustrating Start to Week 2: Should Fantasy Football Managers Panic?

With two dud performances from Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift through the 2024 season, it might be time for fantasy managers to panic.

In the first half on Sunday Night Football, Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift hasn’t been the player many fantasy football GMs were hoping for.

Entering an offense full of promise and built-up hype this offseason, Swift was a viable RB2 option. However, after seeing his start to the 2024 season, the idea of that being true is fading quickly.

What Should I Do With D’Andre Swift?

In Week 1, Swift rushed 10 times for 30 yards, including a two-point conversion that ranks as his only trip to the end zone this season. Among fantasy running backs last week, Swift ranked as the RB44.

For a player who was drafted near pick No. 55, Swift hasn’t produced at the level he should be considering his draft position. Not only is that concerning in Week 2, but it paints a picture of disappointment down the road this season.

One thing to note about Swift and all other Bears players is that Chicago doesn’t play a divisional opponent until Week 11. That week, the Bears host Green Bay as they begin their end-of-the-season gauntlet to close the year.

    • Week 11: vs. Green Bay
    • Week 12: vs. Minnesota
    • Week 13: at Detroit
    • Week 14: at San Francisco
    • Week 15: at Minnesota (Fantasy playoffs)
    • Week 16: vs. Detroit (Fantasy playoffs)
    • Week 17: vs. Seattle (Fantasy Championship)
    • Week 18: at Green Bay

So, in the weeks that matter most in fantasy— the playoffs— Swift could be in a position to disappoint managers.

Last season in Philly, Swift showed the ability to be a strong fantasy contributor, totaling 1,049 yards and five touchdowns.

Following his poor Week 1, he’s on pace to finish the 2024 season with just 510 yards. The difference between this season and last season is Swift was behind one of the top offensive lines in the league in 2023.

This season, the Bears have an offensive line that hasn’t compared to Philly’s in the slightest.

On top of poor offensive-line play, Chicago’s offense hasn’t been an offense fantasy managers look to for production, with overall struggles throughout the entire unit early this season.

The Bears scored just one offensive touchdown through six quarters of play in the 2024 season, so for fantasy managers who want a running back they can trust, especially later in the season, it might be smart to look at options other than Swift.
