The Dallas Cowboys have a lot at stake entering the 2025 NFL season. After a disaster of a 2024 campaign, the enormous price of the roster, particularly Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, alongside the massive haul they gave up for George Pickens, means the hopes for this season are high.
However, the defense needs some work. Typically, their strong point, the Cowboys’ defensive unit, struggled last year, and now their secondary is even weaker entering the 2025 season, as Trevon Diggs is set to miss time early in the season. One analyst predicts the Cowboys would address this weakness by pulling off a trade for a seven-time Pro Bowler.
Cowboys Predicted To Pull Off a Blockbuster Trade For 3-Time All-Pro
The Cowboys arguably boast one of the league’s best cornerback duos with Diggs and DaRon Bland. Besides First Team All-Pro selections, they have also been highly disruptive ball hawks at different points in their career. However, because of injuries, the two played only one game together last season.
Now, with Bland in a contract year, it’s questionable if we’ll see him in a Cowboys uniform for much longer. With no other capable starter on the roster, Yahoo Sports’ Nate Tice suggested the Cowboys should trade for disgruntled Miami Dolphins corner Jalen Ramsey.
The Cowboys have over $32 million in cap space, and while Micah Parsons is a stabilizing force in the defense, adding Ramsey could transform it into a Super Bowl-caliber unit.
“I think he ages well because I think he can play corner, he could play the slot, and I think he’ll transition to safety as his career goes along,” Tice said on the Football 301 podcast. “I think he’s on that Charles Woodson arc career arc.”
Tice’s proposal received support from fellow analyst Matt Harmon, who acknowledged that the cornerback room was the only weak link in the Cowboys’ defense.
“It’s really the only area that’s concerning about their defense, is that secondary,” Harmon said, “because as long as Micah Parsons is there, they’re going to be an above average defense at the worst.”
Now entering his 10th NFL season, Ramsey has made a career out of understanding angles — from driving down on routes to closing in along the sideline. His instincts and physicality have helped earn him the “elite” label over the years.

Despite criticism over his 24 career interceptions, Ramsey’s impact runs deeper. Since 2018, quarterbacks have completed just 58% of their passes when targeting him — and they rarely even try. He’s been targeted just 3.12 times per game during that span, often forcing offenses to throw elsewhere.
