Since being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Dak Prescott quickly became the face of the franchise and has now signed two long-term contracts with the team.
While he leads Dallas on the field, the quarterback has a loving relationship with his girlfriend and tons of support from his family.
Here’s a look at Prescott’s family tree.
Who Are Dak Prescott’s Parents?
Prescott was born in July 1993 to Nathaniel and Peggy Prescott. The couple met in high school in 1979 and eventually married, eventually divorcing when Dak was in elementary school but maintaining a relationship as friends. Nathaniel has said in multiple interviews that while he and Peggy’s time as a couple ended, they were still the best of friends, with Dak agreeing.
Following the split, Peggy kept Dak and his siblings, and they grew up in a three-bedroom trailer in Haughton, Louisiana. His dad would head to Austin, Texas, where he would work as a city bus driver while Peggy managed a truck stop in the area to support her kids.
Peggy did everything for her kids, and that sentiment has been echoed by all the people surrounding her.
Nathaniel, in an interview with Graham Bensinger, described her as “the ultimate football mom.” She was a vocal presence at all her children’s football games and got in on the action as best she could.
Peggy was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in the summer of 2012. But despite complications from the illness and treatment, she still made it to as many of Dak’s games as possible with the help of her ex-husband.
Peggy died a year and a half later, in November 2013, at the age of 52.
In a 2023 appearance on the Today Show, Dak shared stories of his mother while being an advocate for colon cancer treatment and advanced screening.

After reminiscing on the good times, he wrapped up his lovely devotion to his mother saying, “I am who I am because of my mom.”
Following her death, Prescott started the Faith Fight Finish Foundation to help fund colon cancer research and spread awareness through prevention. The foundation’s name comes from the words of encouragement Peggy would often say to Dak: Faith, Fight, Finish.
His work with the foundation helped him earn Walter Payton Man of the Year honors in 2022.
Prescott’s Siblings
The Cowboys quarterback is the youngest of three sons between Nathaniel and Peggy. Thaddeus, or “Tad,” and Jace were also star players for the Haughton High School football team before Dak. Tad and Jace both played college football but were unable to make the jump to the pros like their little brother.
Tragically, Jace took his own life in April 2020 at 31 years old. The loss hit the family hard, and Prescott sought counseling to deal with the grief, as he and his brothers were very close. Dak’s foundation also features mental health services and resources in honor of Jace.
Dak’s oldest brother, Tad, married his wife, Holly, in March 2023. The couple has two children: a son, Jace, and a daughter, Kennedy.
Tad helps run the family businesses while often coming to his brother’s defense on social media.
Does Dak Have a Kid?
Dak and Sarah Jane Ramos have been dating since September 2023 when she was spotted watching him beat the New York Giants in Week 1 of the season. Since then, the couple has posted about each other on social media, mainly Instagram, commenting on each other’s profiles with words of encouragement.
In November 2023, the couple announced on Instagram they were expecting a baby girl and, in March 2024, shared a post of their newborn daughter, Margaret Jane Rose Prescott.
More recently, Dak shared an Instagram post in July revealing a peek into the brand-new family’s offseason escapades.

The couple is extremely supportive of each other and further shows how loved and supported the Dallas QB is outside of the franchise.
While fans can turn on a moment’s notice, Prescott will always have his family there to help him throughout life’s challenges.
