Following a lackluster 2024 campaign, the Dallas Cowboys have once again failed to make any major offseason moves. Their biggest change so far? Swapping out Rico Dowdle for Javonte Williams — perhaps because Williams came $3 million cheaper.
And guess what? They’re not projected to land running back Ashton Jeanty either, according to one of the latest mock drafts. Still, Dallas is predicted to take a “cheat code” offensive weapon in Penn State’s Tyler Warren.

Dallas Cowboys Predicted to Select Penn State’s Tyler Warren in 2025 NFL Draft
The Cowboys’ passing game struggled last season, ranking 21st in scoring. On top of not having a true WR2 behind star receiver CeeDee Lamb, the tight end group — Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, and Brevyn Spann-Ford — didn’t produce much.
Dallas needs help at both wide receiver and tight end. According to College Sports Network’s Oliver Hodgkinson, the Cowboys will address the latter in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
In his latest mock draft, Hodgkinson predicts Dallas will select Warren 12th overall.
“Tyler Warren was comfortably one of the best college football players in the country during the 2024 season, emerging as a do-it-all offensive weapon who would have taken the Paul Hornung Award for the most versatile player if not for the existence of Travis Hunter.
“The Dallas Cowboys need a pass-catching weapon in their offense, regardless of where he lines up, and Warren gives them a cheat code that can impact the game in multiple facets.”
In 2024, Warren started all 16 games and helped lead Penn State to a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance. He finished second in the FBS in receptions and seventh in receiving yards, earning first-team All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of America and second-team recognition from CSN. By the end of his college career, Warren had played 56 games, racking up 1,839 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.
Warren’s value doesn’t stop there. Beyond being a dominant receiving threat, he runs with power thanks to his experience as both a running back and option quarterback. He added 32 carries for 224 yards and six rushing touchdowns and even completed three of six passes for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Tyler Warren is an elite tight end prospect.
He’s cleaned up drops (15% in 2023 to 2.8% drop rate in 2024) and become an elite contested catcher (61.9%).
Warren is also a MONSTER after the catch, forcing 30 missed tackles in 2024.

Warren could be a steal for the Cowboys and may even start right away in Dallas. However, team owner Jerry Jones is predicted to stick with his running back focus in the latest two-round mock draft from PFSN’s Marco Enriquez.
Enriquez has Dallas selecting Jeanty at No. 12 overall, writing, “If selected, Jeanty could become the Cowboys’ offensive engine, even if their offensive line remains a concern.”
Meanwhile, Warren falls one spot later to the Miami Dolphins at No. 13.
“The Miami Dolphins were once again a letdown in 2024. They have so many weapons, and for some reason, they just cannot put it all together. Adding yet another playmaker on offense gives Miami some more juice as they try to get over the hump in 2025. Tyler Warren could immediately become their top option at tight end.”
