Dallas Cowboys News, April 13: Agent to CeeDee Lamb Gives Contract Update, Zach Frazier’s Potential Fit, and More

Are contract talks heating up for Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb? That situation and more headlines the latest Dallas Cowboys news.

The Dallas Cowboys have tough decisions to make in their wide receiver room in April. One involves potentially giving CeeDee Lamb some help via the 2024 NFL Draft, but the other involves Lamb himself and his future with the team.

Dallas Cowboys News Today

As it turns out, Dak Prescott isn’t the only Cowboys star with the words “contract talks” and “pending future with the team” attached to his name. More on Lamb’s situation, plus who looks like a new fit for Dallas come draft day, all headline today’s Cowboys news!

Agent to CeeDee Lamb Unveils Contract Update

So, will Lamb earn something far higher than the $14 million he was originally given?

Lamb is entering the final season of his rookie deal, which is why his pending future with the franchise has surfaced in recent weeks, and fans are wondering if he’ll have a sit down with Cowboys front office personnel soon.

Unfortunately according to Dallas Morning News Cowboys reporter Calvin Watkins on Friday, Lamb’s agent hasn’t shared any financial movement between Dallas and the Pro Bowl receiver.

“CeeDee Lamb’s agent haven’t had any substantial talks about a new contract with the Cowboys a person with knowledge of the situation said,” Watkins reported.

In a subsequent post, Watkins indicated that, as of now, Lamb’s lack of contract discussion isn’t considered a big deal. However, minicamps are looming soon for Dallas between June 4-6, and Watkins said fans shouldn’t start to worry until then. He also added that it wouldn’t surprise him if Lamb sits out of the June workouts as contract chatter drags on.

Does Dallas Pursue Help for Lamb? Latest Mock Draft Has New, Surprise Option

Outside of Lamb, Dallas finds itself needing to bolster the options surrounding him. There’s already one notable WR vacancy to fill as veteran Michael Gallup was released during the offseason.

But in PFN’s Friday Mock Draft conducted by Dallas Robinson, he believes the Cowboys will instead pivot to the interior offensive line at No. 24 in the first round. Zach Frazier of West Virginia comes in as the newest, surprising option linked to the Cowboys.

“Dallas desperately needs offensive line assistance after losing LT Tyron Smith and C Tyler Biadasz in free agency. With the top six offensive tackles plus interior options Jackson Powers-Johnson and Graham Barton off the board, the Cowboys will go with the next-best pure center in the draft: West Virginia’s Zach Frazier,” Robinson wrote.

Frazier is considered No. 45 on PFN’s Big Board of 2024 draft prospects. While Frazier would be labeled by many as a reach at 24th overall, Dallas does have offensive trench needs, including finding the replacement for 2022 Pro Bowler Biadasz. Perhaps the Cowboys will love Frazier’s historic leverage dominance — as a four-time state wrestling champion from 2017 to 2020 at Fairmont Senior High School in West Virginia.

Robinson also has Washington offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten going No. 56 to Dallas to bolster the offensive line. Then, at No. 87 in the third round, Dallas addresses its running back need by nabbing Trey Benson of Florida State.

Dak Prescott Seen on College Campus Amid Contract Chatter

Lastly, where is Prescott attacking his offseason period as his contract remains a big topic?

Prescott was captured throwing the football near the Cowboys’ facility, 19 miles away to be exact. He was spotted at Southern Methodist University on Friday.

However, how much longer he’ll remain in Dallas suddenly emerged as a red-hot discussion this week. Just four days ago, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared a bombshell report that Dallas could end up as a sleeper team drafting a quarterback in the coming draft.

Prescott is due to make $29 million with his base salary, per Spotrac. However, he carries a cap hit of $55.4 million with a dead cap mark of $66,915,000. Prescott’s current deal makes him a free agent for the 2025 offseason cycle.
